A house being an unobtainable goal for a lot of people is all the more reason to pick it carefully not haphazardly just buy one without consulting your partner. Sorry but the arguments for again, buying such a big thing that they are BOTH gonna live in for the rest of their lives, are so strained and falls apart once you consider that it’s not a forced action and he basically just rolled the dice when it wasn’t necessary to do so. I wonder if people justifying it are actually considering how one-sided the decision was or if they’re just being swept up by on-screen romance.
I mean even the actors themselves were like wtf? I don’t think we need to rationalize it even if we like the show. It’s a writing choice to demonstrate some romance in their storyline but we can acknowledge the gesture was still inconsiderate in practice.

a house is like a pet. its not a gift, its a bill. one i didnt ask for. all the maintenance, upkeep, HOA, insurance, property taxes(for pets: food, shots, vet visits, obediance school).........no thanks. my man's love is enough for me.......

tupac was a dancer before a rapper (look it up) i could see him being on dancing with the stars and doing that tour and be choreographing for films and shit. they so needed him for that performance of "its hard out here for pimp" at the oscars

Agree to disagree. To a lot of people a house is a pretty unobtainable goal. At the time things were different and they both make decent money so I get it, but personally like I said if somebody bought me a house it would be amazing, no matter the condition. And Jim said he bought it from his parents so they could retire. So its sort of implied they owned it completely and sold it to him for a lump sum. Jim would have tons of dough saved up being a single, somewhat introverted guy in Scranton. So they wouldn't have to make payments, except for maybe property tax or home owners insurance or something. He probably should have mentioned it but both of them are frustratingly bad at communicating and its a thing throughout the whole show. Remember the god awful story-line where they couldn't connect on the phone because they kept calling each other in super loud situations?

Yup. The idea was that Pam was in such a wishy washy relationship for such a long time with Roy that she was very touched by Jim's gesture of commitment.
That being said most women would NOT appreciate this gesture lol. Both partners are living inside the house and paying it off long term, how on earth could you not consult your partner on it. This isn't like buying a necklace or a small gift. Even Jenna Fischer disagreed with it, but in the end she and the writers came to the conclusion that Pam is not Jenna and is her own character and it was the right decision for her specifically. Still, everybody did comment on this at the time of the episode writing and during the office ladies podcast, it's still seen as a wrong move 99.9% of the time.

To me its one of the best aged things in the show. In 2023 if my significant other bought me a house I would ecstatic. Sort of reflects how well all the Normies are doing in life that they would think that's a bad idea. My family is low-income and Idk if we will ever get to buy a house the way things are going.

You guys are completely missing the point in The Office reaction. The art garage had nothing to do with Pam's reaction. She was just so astonished and happy that Jim BOUGHT HER A HOUSE. She could care less about him doing this without her knowing and most women would appreciate this gesture(My wife thought this on our watch through as well).

I can’t wait for them to get to the later seasons of The Boondocks. Season 1 is great but 2& 3 is where it’s most iconic and referenced moments come from

Yeah it's not their fault at all, it's just weird how everything has a different version of some shows, typically sitcoms

The Office has got to be the most memed show of all time. Probably because characters are always looking directly at the camera.

Something terrible has happened that's nobody's fault, the episode of the Office on Netflix is wildly different from the episode you're watching. Different scenes, some scenes in both but in different places in the episode etc. It's so strange how DVDs, TV and different streaming services have such drastic changes from platform to platform for the same damn episode. Unless it's superfan cut and I missed the change back or something
