Weekly post 4!

Hello again! Yesterday, I couldn’t write the blog because I was busy, so I’ll do it today!

Also, I won’t be showing any drawings in this post because I gave up on the previous one—I couldn’t find a pose that looked decent, so I set it aside and tried to do something simpler, like a manga-style panel. But since I’m still learning and don’t have a defined style yet, plus it took me days to continue it, the panels ended up looking nothing alike.

(; ̄︶ ̄)

So, in the end, I decided to take a short break from drawing this week and stick to doing individual drawings for now.

(´︶`)

-------------------------------------------

I also started playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2! What an amazing game, honestly. I finished the first one a couple of years ago and didn’t have many expectations, which actually helped me enjoy it more.

( ´ ▿ ` )

A few people tried to boycott it, if I’m not mistaken, because they added gay scenes and a few things like that. They also modified part of the game’s codex to show Jews in a historically favorable light or something like that—honestly, I didn’t look too much into it. Mostly because, from what I’ve played, I didn’t see anything forced. And the codex thing is just a small change in a notebook that, honestly, no one reads.

( ̄ε ̄@)

I feel like people are really burned out on inclusivity for many reasons. That’s why, when they see something even remotely gay or even just a woman protagonist in a game (lol), they immediately jump to calling it a ‘woke game’ and similar things.

(¯▿¯)

Personally, I get annoyed when they try to force ideas into my head, and in some cases, it’s really obvious—like in Dragon Age: Veilguard. But people tend to overreact. At least, that’s how I felt with this game. Some were saying that Henry, the protagonist, is canonically gay and that you can only choose between being ‘shy gay’ or ‘not shy gay,’ which is ridiculous.

(눈_눈)

In the 30 or 40 hours I played, there was only one instance of a gay option, while by that point, I had already seen the breasts of at least two women and slept with them. So clearly, the people complaining haven’t actually played the game.

(・ε・`*)

The only thing that slightly bothered me was what I mentioned about the changes to the codex regarding Jews, Islam, or whatever they modified, which is supposedly not historically accurate. But honestly, I don’t lose sleep over it. Like I said, nobody reads that codex anyway. They could say there are unicorns shooting lasers, and I wouldn’t even notice.

(❛◡˂̵ ̑̑✧)

In summary, if you like open-world games like Skyrim but with a much more realistic and slightly clunkier approach, I completely recommend this game.

( ˙▿˙ )

It’s one of the few games that has made me laugh out loud. It has serious moments, but then it knows how to place humor in a way that keeps everything perfectly balanced without ever undermining the seriousness.

^ワ^

-------------------------------------------

Well, now that I’ve criticized the people who point at anything that isn’t a traditional, heterosexual man and call it ‘woke,’ it’s time to criticize the opposite side—the actual ‘woke’ crowd.

(.❛ ᴗ ❛.)

Remember when I mentioned Dragon Age: Veilguard? Well, I swear to God, I have never been so annoyed by a game in my life. I’ve been an RPG fan ever since I got my first PC, mostly thanks to Dragon Age: Origins, which I consider one of the best RPGs I’ve ever played and my personal favorite. So when I saw what they did to Veilguard, it felt like a kick in the balls that I kept feeling for weeks.

(눈‸눈)

I knew everything was going downhill when they changed the name from Dreadwolf—a badass name—to Veilguard, which is incredibly generic. Then, the fact that the director was trans didn’t bother me at all, as long as they did a good job. After all, what someone does in their private life has nothing to do with a project. But I never expected it to be this bad.

(´∩`。)

If I had to list everything I disliked, this would turn into a full-blown manuscript, so I’ll just highlight the worst part: empty and offensive inclusivity.

(ಠ╭╮ಠ)

Why is it offensive? Because it’s literally superficial and lazy. They take an existing race, slap a ‘non-binary’ label on a character, and call it a day. ‘Great job, guys, we’re so inclusive!’ And then there’s that nonsense about ‘transition scars.’ I don’t remember exactly what they’re called, but come on—it’s a game where magic exists and people change forms. I’m pretty sure that wasn’t necessary. But hey, gotta check those diversity boxes, right?

‿︵‿︵‿︵‿ヽ(°□° )ノ︵‿︵‿︵‿︵

Going back to the non-binary character, there was an easy way to handle it: create a new race, like—I don’t know—lizard people, who are born without a gender. Then, when you recruit them as a companion, their personal quest could revolve around a coming-of-age ritual where they must accomplish a heroic act to earn the right to choose their gender—or not. And after going through their entire story with them, they would decide to align their gender identity with your character’s, whether that’s male, female, or non-binary because you're were pretty cool.

(っ˘з(˘⌣˘ ) ♡

See? It’s that easy to create an inclusive character without breaking immersion. But like I said, they don’t actually care about non-binary people, trans people, or anyone else. Because if they did, they’d use more than two brain cells to create a character that actually fits the world.

(눈‸눈)

Instead, they take a well-known IP with an established lore and butcher it however they please—then act surprised when nobody likes it.

υ。’ ᵔ ‘。υ

This was the first time I genuinely felt like they were laughing in my face the whole time. Mostly because it gave me the impression that they see people as that shallow, and that something as serious as struggling with your identity is nothing more than a linguistic term to them.

So very inclusive. Thanks, BioWare.
