😺✒️ I drew my cat every day! ✮ sketchbook dump

Hello! /ᐠ - ˕ -マ

Recently, I've been drawing my cat, Kuma, a lot. Part of the reason is spending more time downstairs at my new art setup, where she tends to hang out, and also because I go looking for her during the day when I'm taking breaks or just want to see what she's up to. I started drawing her, well, because I simply can't resist her cuteness and have since realized that she's basically a live model I can reference anytime.

At first, it was challenging sketching her, because as cats are wont to do she's constantly moving and changing positions every 3 seconds. However, the flip side of that speed pushes me to capture overall shapes and movement rather than getting bogged down by details and I can easily sketch a large range of poses in a short amount of time, helping me quickly pick up the basic forms and develop a stronger understanding of a subject's construction. All that said, she's just fun to draw and her silliness makes me laugh. ^^

I've loved seeing y'all share pics of your cats in the Patreon chat! I want to draw all of them, because they're sooo cute. TwT I'm thinking of making a request for silly cat pics to draw in the next week so keep an eye out for that!
