♡ OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER CALENDAR ♡ // cooling down and getting cozy~

Hope you've been well~ As the end of the year draws nearer the excitement for upcoming holidays becomes more palpable! The seasons are changing (even in central California where it's 75 year round haha) and the colder weather encourages me to reflect on the feelings I want to bring out in my work.
In October (see above image) I aimed for a sense of cozy and warmth. I was tempted to draw something Halloween-themed but decided to approach the month more subtly and convey how October makes me feel. And in my case that happens to be curled up at home cuddled up and comfortable. :D This piece went through MANY iterations that were completely different from what you see here (it was rather frustrating actually!), but I think it came out nicely in the end. ^^
Here's one of the previous drafts. I liked the colors, but ultimately it felt too heavy and sad so I scrapped it.

In November the weather really starts to change. The air grows colder, grey clouds fill the sky, and nights are best spent huddled up under a pile of blankets. I love the feeling of crisp fall air, especially in the morning when it's cold enough to see your own breath. I wanted to push my comfort zone with this piece and draw a new environment with characters in action. It's something I definitely want to keep practicing and I'm glad I got to start with a calming piece!

Just one more piece left before the 2018 calendar is completed! I can't believe we've already gotten this far! Fingers crossed that I can get everything completed soon and have copies available in December. It's going to be close, but I think we can manage it. >:D
