Hi everyone!

If you don't know, I'm hosting a giveaway in celebration of reaching my first milestone. It's open to all patrons and you can find details here . I'm offering three really fun prizes so if you're interested do check it out and participate! :D<3

Now back to the subject of this post. The art I'm sharing with you today was actually supposed to be on the postcard for April. But after some deliberation, I decided it would look too small on a postcard and opted to make it a print instead. If you want to see what I ended up drawing for April's postcard you can check it out here !
With this piece I wanted to capture feelings of summer, nostalgia, and the anticipation of school ending. I feel particularly nostalgic toward summer (I'm a Leo we love the warmth) and love how the drawn out days and warm nights make everything seem like a dream. Even when I was working a 9-5 all throughout last summer and rushing to meet tight deadlines, the atmosphere created by the sunlight painting my room with delicious hues of pink, orange, and gold would make me feel calm. I also wanted to capture aspects of youth and how the end of the school year always feels a bit like limbo. The stress of finals keeps you grounded, but the call of summer vacation draws you away from the rigidity of class schedules.

I used a variety of colors in this piece and have discovered a love for painting skies. It's so relaxing and I love creating different shapes and shadows and smoothing them all together. I used to paint night skies all the time (I had a phase in middle school where I legitimately added a night sky to every drawing I made), but have since fallen away from it. I'm delighted to rediscover this interest and to explore new techniques and ways of portraying skies. In other words, GET READY FOR SOME SKIES!!!

Thank you all so much for your support and I hope you have a fantastic day. <3
Love,
Vicki
