In the end I decided to go for a complex black and white lineart with basic flat colors. it's a style I didn't use for a while. It's a long and minutious process but the result can be really satisfying if done right :)

I really like how the black and white contrasts look so far, and all the little details help bring out the impossibly, slightly dizzying perspective really well. I think an adventurer would have to be at least a little crazy themselves, to make sense of this environment. ;P
