Joris! YAY!!!
I just felt like drawing the three boys as high school students coming home from school, wearing their uniforms!
I like the overall look of the picture and colors, it's colorful and shining-
It's not quite the result I wanted, but I need to try other stuff on upcoming images!
I really hope you like it, as I rarely do colored pictures, I kinda wanna know if it's worth it.
Sometimes I feel like a very dull artist because my illustrations focus more on characters, and I hardly spend time on backgrounds, which is a real shame. Lately, I've realized I'm not sure where I stand with colored images. I can do many things and I don't know where to go; I'm uncertain about how to line them (same here, I'm not satisfied with the line; it's my default line, very expressive, but it doesn't suit this kind of coloring, in my opinion).
I've never talked about it, but over the past months/year I've worked for some streamers (under a different pseudonym) creating overlays: landscapes and scenes heavily inspired by Ghibli's and Anime backgrounds style. I really liked it, I didn't know I could do it but I was genuinely convinced and proud of the results (sad I can't show you lol). I never spend as much time on backgrounds for my own illustrations background (including this one) because I feel like characters matter more... not to mention, it takes a lot of time, and I'm afraid of falling behind on the comic.
So this is kind of a test... You're with me on this journey I guess.

I start second guessing myself and end up winging it. I do manage to land somewhere I’m happy with, but I haven’t really figured out what my process or style is when it comes to color. But I know it will all come together eventually! Your art always amazes me and truthfully, drawing in black and white has its own challenges. You manage to make every drawing, every panel so expressive and that’s what keeps us coming back for more! A “dull” artist is the farthest thing from the truth. Seriously, wether it’s black and white or full color, you’re a rockstar ⭐️

You are hard on yourself 😄 By the way, I love your backgrounds : they have enough details but without stealing the show from the characters. There's always something hiding and even when I think I've seen all the little details, another one gets pointed out by another comment or your own comments. Your art has never seems dull to me! Not to speak for anyone but myself, but I often feel that the Easter eggs/details you put into your backgrounds tie in very well for your forefront imagery and often creates a very subtle and seamless storytelling that adds the necessary depth to your unique artstyle. We tend to be our own loudest critic, as they say. But if you’re dull, I fear for the standards you’re setting for the other artists who admire you. Keep working hard but remember to keep resting hard as well! We’re behind you always!
