It wasn't a very exciting update to do for me, I usually enjoy action or dramatic scenes, and if they implies the Boy AND Tera at the same time, it's even better haha. Buuut you gotta do what you gotta do...
The scene in the church was a bit extended, to emphasize the Boy's strange relation to god. You can tell he's standing far away from the center of the church, almost hidding in the shadow. It's a build up for an upcoming major scene (really soon!) that I honestly can't wait to draw, which will unveiled a big part of the Boy's past and behavior. By the way don't get me wrong, this comic is not about religion, and god is not the answer to anything here. I'm not a believer but I find religion very interesting, not to mentioned it's obviously a very good inspiration for metaphors and symbols, etc!
What was I saying? The scene was also extended too highlight Tera's necklace. I made the symbolism of it more obvious!
I honestly don't know yet what i'll go for, for the next update, damn!

Hey I just read the new pages and noticed two tiny mistakes in the first exchange between Jorris and the Boy : « coatch » is « coach » and « I’m mean it » is « I mean it ». ^^’ Love the softness of the statues, you really are a master of lineart <3

2023-07-01 07:44:48 +0000 UTCIt may not be an action-packed update… but exciting nonetheless. I love the revelations just as much as the build-up to them. Coming to think of it… Jo always emphasized that Luc, the Tiger, is a very religious person. And not just him. Kain was talking about the manifestation of the holy spirit on earth – while watching a whole building on fire, probably including Tony. There is a reason behind those fires – more than just wreaking havoc, doing damage and getting rid of evidence/bodies. It’s how they do it. Their way. Instead of shooting someone or smashing their head open – they burn them, alive. That modus operandi is important to Black Death (maybe Black Desk would handle it differently ;p ) and they also mark the property in their firing line with a cross – to “plague them”. Reminds me very much of the days of Exodus. We saw a pretty impressive introduction of the Tiger – the oldest among the Black Death bunch we know so far – first beating someone into a bloody pulp and then burn him alive on a rooftop, right across the street of a church/cathedral. The rose-window behind Luc made a pretty iconic, impressive impact. I doubt all this is coincidence. In my opinion (and I can’t stress that enough! It’s just my opinion, not an evaluation claiming to be the one and only take on Christianity or religion in general): From the Boys perspective, being a little kid who had just lost his parents and brother… entering a church must be something intimidating. People only speak in soft whispers, there is hardly any laughter – or yelling, and to be honest – in my opinion most people seek that presence when they are at a very low point in their life. Like Anna, his grandma. All that shows in the atmosphere, the impressive build and art displayed adds up to all that. And there is this almighty presence, knowing all, always watching and with the absolute power. And if bad things happen, bow your knees, lower your head, ask for forgiveness, be humble, be good… and trust that greater plan which made the worst pain in your life just. Now add the human component to the equation… you have the institution, and you have man operating it. The Boy might have witnessed something… the priest asking if something is burdening him… he knows him from back then. Like probing, “Do you remember now?”. Repression only goes so far… and since it isn’t dark in the church, but broad daylight instead and the fears are usually triggered by darkness so far… and because the reflection in the Boys’ eyes shows “the father” – it isn’t a long stretch to assume it’s the cross triggering it. For a good reason, probably not just the resemblance with the rosary pendant from his grandmother. The priest said the Boy was barely ever looking up… I wouldn’t either, if it means seeing “the father”. And as much of an influence Anna seems to be … trust and faith in prayer doesn’t seem to be something the boy picked up from her – even if he’s always with her when she seeks relief in prayers. He clearly has a different opinion. I’m bursting with curiosity! Very electric update! I enjoy suffocating in the thick atmosphere! ;p

2023-07-01 07:17:31 +0000 UTCI just can’t get over how you illustrate EVERYTHING it’s just so good the way you demonstrate the boys perspective and how he sees things, how he experiences everyday things. Like most people would just show the hallucinations but no you show it as a reflection in his eyes and that has so much more meaning behind it and it’s just gnhvjgyy even chapters like this that i find less exciting(doesn’t mean I don’t love it), I’m not much of a religious person my self but I still find elements that I get excited by. The detail in your work makes it honestly so much fun to break down and everything. Not to mention there’s humour, like what can u get better then that. Anyways imma skedaddle now 😋have a good day!

That's so not fair on us who grew up with only old and brittle priests residing in our hood 🤣 he would defo make me go to church every Sunday on the dot I ain't gonna lie On a more serious note, kudos on how you depicted the solemn atmosphere inside the church. I used to go there with my grandma a lot as a kid, and just by looking at the panels I was instantly reminded of how little and scared I used to feel in front of all those statues. Excellent work as per usual, can't wait to see what comes next 💖
