The scene is very slow and quiet, Tera is overwhelmed by the drawings, he fully understands the gravity of the moment. I wanted the Boy to be scared, ashamed (he stands far away from Tera, in the shadow) and at the same time surprised and touched that Tera is intelligent and observant enough to understand the drawings.
He notices the Boy's stress and is fully aware this is serious.

The moment when the Boy comes closer to Tera is "cut" a lot (several panels), the movement is detailed: it's a way of showing how slow the Boy moves, he's distrustful; he even has a backward movement when, sitting next to Tera, he realizes that he is staring at him. (Tera stares at him because he's quite surprised the Boy spontaneously comes this close lol).

---

About the scary figures, for those who remember me saying "nothing's for free, everything is supposed to make sense", note that for example, his environment heavily influences his imagination, like it should. The one he calls The Father is inspired/impacted by his Grandma's rosary. We don't know what it refers to yet (the origin of it) but you can already tell time has distorted reality. Same for the butterflies, probably. Wait for it to unfold a bit more haha.

In the last page, Tera can feel the Boy shaking against him.

---

In the next pages, the Boy explains why he crosses out his face on every drawing!

---

The Boy and the Wolf is officially 500 pages long! Never thought I could do it, and I'm just so grateful for your support. You make it possible <3

I hope you like this update! Things have been so serious lately, haha!

See you soon-

to me, the things the boy sees represent his family’s corpses and the butterflies are the fire. the demon he sees w the horns i feel is one of the black death’s and i think it’s Kain to be exact. but that’s my opinion and i can’t wait to see what the dream truly represents!

Hi Aspen, I had similar thoughts about those "Fears"! (Fears final concepts 8 Jun 2019) https://www.patreon.com/posts/fears-final-27471732 The beggar – like the bank-clerk on the rooftop and Kain summarizing about how they always beg and think they could talk themselves out of the inevitable. But by how that body is displayed – I can also picture a mother, begging til the very end, even trying to get back up to make a point, to continue arguing for the life of her loved ones. To save her family. The father/The lord – looking a bit like burned on a cross, but aside from the religious symbolism – isn’t it the father, the head of a family who has a heavy cross to carry to be the one responsible (in a classic role-model-context, like Pico chose with the boy’s uncle and his influence, being the stern one compared to Anna, being the softer, female (and granny) influence). That figure seemed to have given in. The sleeper – something you might wish for an innocent – like a kid – when the worst happens. Just sleep through the bad to never wake up again. Which is a very old fear, actually. To go to sleep and never wake up again. Old bed-time prayers “… and if I die before I wake, pray the Lord my soul to take.” And I always had the impression of them being burned, the butterflies like sparks and ashes, rising from a fire. And wouldn't you cover the eyes of a witness/ of a child not meant to see the worst... maybe that would also explain why the boy can even hear the whimpers... he really freaked out when Tera covered his eyes in the bathroom to put on his mask without the Boy seeing his face... I wonder if the boy is also dealing with the "stress/guilt of the survivor" in a subtle, underlying way, since he was pretty young when it all might have happened.

Finally getting into the dreams and his fear of the dark. I can't wait for the next update

Stella

Congratulations author! 500 pages is amazing, I love how much detail and thought you put behind your drawings and the story. Thank you, I’m so happy I found this 😭😭

lelermooo

Seems like the „creatures“ are his family probably dying / already dead and maybe the person who calls next is their murder 👀

Pancake

Omg poor boy and I hope Tera will be able to help him

Jennifer

🥹Tera's... hooked, line, and sinker to the boy real good now.. 🤔 you think Tera will come back/spend the night to watch over the boy? 🫠☺️

Terra

Ooooooh so good! You are so good at expressing their relationship and the emotions in a scene. The facial expressions and body language. It's incredible. ♥️♥️♥️

Veronica Coassin

This is amazing and I kinda felt emotional reading this new chapter. Tera knowing a lil bit more about Boy 🥰. I can't wait for next chapter and congratulations on 500 Pages ❤️

Ah'Ran

oh man, it's really touching how tera cares about the boys. I want to hug the boy so bad. Can't wait for the nett pages❤️

Eli

Awww cant wait for the next pages! ♥

First off, congratulations on 500 Pages!! Whoop! And then... wow. This part was so incredible. I love the shift the comic has made from light to serious in just a few updates, and from fast moving to slow and detailled. I love all of this - the boy's movements, his reluctance, to the movement of his eyes. And I love how Tera is empathic and calm, and doesn't even think to make fun of it for a second. I can't wait to see what the boy has to say about the crossed out eyes, and I'm also very curious about the origins of the figures. I have a hunch about the butterflies, and I can't wait to see whether I'm right or not haha. Thank you for this update <3

Tanja (hakuchin)

id bet theyre his family. he likely watched them die and gets flashes of what he saw. the Sleeper was a dead body (laying down, not moving but w their eyes open). the Begger was another person, still alive but near death (lost limbs). the Father was likely hung (feet arent on the ground and if you look, it seems like he neck is snapped). the last one was most likely a member of Black Death (horns look like the ears of a mask and the glowing eyes reminds me of a few panels we’ve seen of tera before) that killed them.

Aspen

J'ai envie de leur faire un gros câlin à tous les deux! On rentre enfin dans la forêt et il fait vraiment noir... Question: est-ce qu'il sera possible de continuer à télécharger les chapitres comme pour les premiers? Hâte de voir la suite!!!

LadyKya

Amazing. Such a precious moment 💕

Careless Freedom

You bring so much raw emotion to the story. I felt every panel of this! Their expressions…and the interactions between Tera and the Boy are incredibly beautiful. Thank you. I adore them both. 💜

My_FleetingMind

Is he frightened of that last one in particular because it’s significant? Is it the person responsible for his family tragedy?

Dani H

The chills! I really felt the boy’s anxiety. And then there’s the anticipation of waiting a whole month for the next pages.

Elle J Lawrence

Oh my goodness, this is so sad. Why do I get the feeling that he is showing Tera not just his dreams, but his actual past? Like he lost his family because of the fire? He is so scared :(

Olivegreen

Thank you for the new chapter and your hard work 🤍 I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next!

Yana

I waited up all night for this! Thank you for the diligent work and breakdown of the chapter Z!
