Added 2021-09-30 09:53:02 +0000 UTCGrandma is back! I like this new version of her better, and thank you Andy Pandy, who sent me a few suggestions; mine looks older but it was inspiring for the hair! (I was so unsure about it that I did not draw her hair until 3 days ago lol).
Knowing she's smaller than the Boy, I can't imagine her standing next to Tera !!!
Edit: I almost forgot to comment the fact that it's clear now: the Boy's parents are DEAD? And that he had an older brother ?? The ivy hides part of his family name, oh no!

After spending the month drawing the Boy with this hat, I already miss it lol. In fact I miss it so much that I may edit this pages so he wears it in the next update ;_;
I just love how it hides the Boy's face on some shot, and kinda adds ...tragic to the scene. When he bends over the grave of his family, head down, I think it just looks so good.
That being said! I really didn't want it to be sad. I walked in a Parisian cemetery near my place several times this month, to take pictures and put myself in the Boy's shoes. I wondered "Okay, you've been coming here for years every week. You're a cheerful boy. How things go ?" It couldn't be sad. I thought it would probably look like small talks, about school, friends and everyday life. And you know the graveyard Janitor, and you've learned the names of every statues there lol.

Lot of religious symbols in this update, I hope that everybody is fine with that (I mean nowadays everything seems problematic...). In fact I should have introduced the granny with that kind of background in Chapter 4... but anyway.
Personally I am not believer but I find religion fascinating, and quite a few characters here are Christians, so the point is neither to make fun of religion nor to make propaganda lol. There will be more dialogue on the subject and the bible later in the chapter, quite funny.

PS. For those who remember I designed some clothes that had flowers on the chest. Didn't kept it for that scene but I NEEDED THAT SYMBOL so I added that shot of him holding the chrysanthemum against him.
PPS. I bet y'all can guess why the graveyard guard is named Peter !

I'm wondering if Tera knew the Boy's older brother? Or maybe Tera had something to do with his family's death? Or the Boy's older brother tried to join Black Death and it ended badly? It's so much fun reading this, getting to know the characters and trying to figure out how things are going to progress.

(and yes, also the apostle St. Peter) ;p In any case, I love the details and fashion statement (the whole scene is so relatable)! It's calming to see the boy doing so well (not the typical stereotype graveyard scene with lots of tears and weeping). And: please no worries about the symbolism!

2022-01-13 18:24:09 +0000 UTCThis reminded me of my "visits" ... but I loved Grandma ... perfect in every way including funky humor :D Love the update and every post explanation ... really, gives me this feeling like we're having tea and watching the new pages all together and you drop more context details to "round" up the story for us. I did assume he lost his parents but I didn't know he had a brother ... what in the world happened to them?!?

It was kinda like magic and then when he was “Grandma is absolutely lost!!!” Was like broken record track 😂. For me it was very meaningful he used the hat his grandma use for her husband’s funeral to visit his parents gravestones. Every update I’m like “Oh boy is so lovely and fierce”

I figured something happened to his parents but it wasn't confirmed as cannon until now. As someone who is also an orphan I relate even further with the boy. I hope the story goes more into his parents.

2021-09-30 13:22:07 +0000 UTCAH! I like all your updates but this one for me is so much more touchful! It is sad but not as a deep sorrow but as a burden that is always with you. Baggage of loss that always is with the Boy. His blackness which follows as shadow by the Sun and becomes powerful in the night. You draw it so simple (as a story!) and because of that it touches so much. So powerful. And the Boy. Oh... he seems so adult here. He can be cheerful and funny but inside in fact he's much older than others.

Although I'm not religious either, religion has a lot of things that you are getting a lot out of and I am excited to know much more! I like that he told them about Joris, and that Joris is counting on him to help him. It's like he doesn't like him, but he can't tell him no. (Sorry for all the wrong words, it's hard for me to explain things in english)

But if the boy tries to help joris carry home his stuff, he’s probably going to get kidnapped again lol (I hope the successfully deliver the boy to Tera!)

I’m not religious either but the art that has come out of it(respectfully) is so stunning and in your art style it was just as amazing. Thank you so much for the update I really enjoy following the process. The end result is always beautiful but the behind the scenes make me so giddy with happiness 💗 Also the Granda is precious! I can only imagine her wardrobe 😮. I noticed she’s not as opposed to the boy wearing his style of clothes like the uncle is

In the beginning, I honestly thought maybe his parents did something bad to him, which caused his anxiety but maybe it was an accident or murder. I love that he is kind of playing cool/relaxed but his face still is also speaking the opposite on some panels or is even hidden. We see such a vulnerable Boy here, I love it. No matter what happened he is such a strong soul!
