The Ross bridge, approximated above was built in 1836 in Tasmania by convict labour and is the third bridge built in Australia. I took a trip specifically to this bridge once, and my husband kindly suffered my detour (I also rented an officers quarters in town to stay in and it had wonderfully dated tapestries of cherubs everywhere). The Convicts who made the bridge did such a lovely job that they were granted their freedom.
