One of the larger works I've done prolly 4x3.ft. Immensely fond of it. More exploring of idealised forms accentuated and warped into the grotesque. Homosexual male identity performing normative masculinity. Both at home and suspect at once. Dissonant. etc. A guy at the show I displayed in recently walked up and kinda dismissively told me he "got it" (we'd had 0 conversation) I have my suspicions he definitely did not get it. I think a major difficulty with my style and it's cartoonishly sensibility is it gets written off pretty quickly as just some sort of aesthetic excersise bereft of concept. Obviously humor is purposefully there, but I'd like to think I provide a lot more depth than the surface reading cartoonish stuff seems to elicit.

Anywho, the comic is still in process. traditional art is kind of at the forefront of my momentum currently so for those of you who want to stick around while I do my thing, thank you. you are incredibly kind.

Oh yeah, sports have an inherent homoeroticisim to them. It's another interesting contradiction and probably has a bit to do with the homophobia that often accompanies them. Just another way people contort themselves.

I don't think I would've gotten it. I'm thinking playing contact sports is a stereotypical heteronormative masculine thing or whatever, but so much of masculinity is about showing off for the boys that I feel like the homoeroticism is the point. Like, it's a socially acceptable way for men to engage physically with other men. Sports are gay. I suppose it's more homosocial than homosexual, but I think the distinction can get blurry, which itself may be the point... I feel like without the context I'd just be like "Naked dudes playing rugby. Cool!" Which itself is an interesting thought given that the men are meant to be gay, but I could imagine straight-identifying men doing this. Also, haha a fart.
