Birds Of A Feather, Chapter 3.i-3

Comments

I would have killed for our birb to just catch the railgun bullet, but I guess you gotta keep some cards close at hand xD Also I kinda want to see if she's gonna scold the whole lot of them like a disapoited teacher, while they are on their knee in the middle of the street. Maximus Humiliatus :3

Wolfund

Worse than humiliation, all those agents and none of them had their suicide-ware activate. Every corpo involved is about to be backstabbed by every other corpo for that absolute bungle.

Menthewarp

I love the mental image, that the "Probably an EMMI", and the Sparring Bot, are one and the same. >:}c

Gabriel

I doubt that they would even NEED to reach that level of durability, given that Cyberpunk isn’t at the technological level that the Federation is (due to having studied Chozo-tech)

V01D

Man, I almost thought he'd made some Chozo variant of the Quad MB the Luminoth had until comment browsing reminded me of the E.M.M.I.. If he made them things as nearly indestructible as the Federation did, every Corporation in the world is gonna want his pie. Hell, if it leaks to Smasher, that guy might just find a better patron than Arasaka if Drich is willing. Not sure if his loyalty in Canon is driven by a chip or Arasaka just providing the best gear but even after decades of service, he'd be willing to trade bosses if provided unequivocally better chrome.

Loves2Spooge

I mean Drich is operating as a cyberware provider and ripperdoc, and a pretty good one at that. That'd explain the inquisitors. Everyone else is probably just annoyed they're competing/going to be competing with the corps.

Dozen9292

Did Drich manage to defeat ALL of her attackers WITHOUT actually killing any of them? Oof! Not only does that show off how much power and control she has, but it also works as a HUGE slap to the face of whoever sent these nitwits against "Big Birb." I mean, think of the humiliation!

MontyTzeen

Why would the corps fold? You act like reputation matters much to them, they essentially control the world already. If anything, they may just do away with subtlety and go louder with their reprisals. Corps in Cyberpunk have more resources than countries, they can certainly fight a war. A losing war, certainly, but the corpos have only known power and arrogance their whole lives, something as silly as evidence won’t do much. Could other corps exploit them from this? Certainly, but corps don’t much care for public opinion. Drich may write otherwise, but that’s what I’m thinking

Raven

Heh. Drich might be showing off how op she is in combat but I fully expect her to do something that no corpo would ever think of. Drich will go the legal route. Sueing the corporations with evidence is something they would immediately fold over. It hits their reputation and bottom line. It's something that they would be terrified of seeing happen more often.

UpgradeNow!

Ahh good Ole ultra violence! You love to see it and NOT receive it! Those guys in white are those cultist Inquisitors that hate cyberware. Wonder why they're taking a swing if they scanned Drich they would see he doesn't have any cyber implants. That's one group watching him. That corpo assault platoon and that sniper team both account for two other groups watching so whose that fourth one? Might be netwatch? Could be using part of the Blackwall A.I to act as a surveillance system. That's one of the few beings on planet that could slip past drich's passive awareness.

Silver flare

nothing says that he cant create his own version if he knew they existed.

Krisjanis Jansons

Excellent chapter! Loved how even the highly prepared ‘quality over quantity’ force was not ready for that confrontation. And the mention of MaxTac paying attention to heavy ECM drops another Chekhov’s gun in our hands. Woot!

Udodelig Urningin

Huh, didn't actually expect that. E.M.M.I's were a Galactic Federation thing, not Chozo-tech. Basically research and sample collection drones, protected against Hazardous Environments and Flora/Fauna in the same way Freeman's suit could act as combat armor in Half-Life. I mean, they will steamroll most anything being thrown against Titanus Birbicus this day, and a nice callback to Metroid Dread, but it just feels a bit out of place.

James Thomas

I bet some folks are recording this whole thing and putting it on the net. Birdy is gonna get some fans i bet.

RageLord

Looks like the disposable pawns are approaching the Finding Out portion of FAFO. I look forward to the follow-up where their puppeteers also reach that point. It is sure to result in some epic crash outs and pants browning.
