FWIW, if Benn were (**able to**) link the Patreon to the Discord (this is built in Patreon functionality), then people joining the Patreon would (if they opted in to it) be auto-joined to the Discord, avoiding this entire "invite link expired" dance. See "Setting up Discord for your members" in the Patreon "Community Tools" documentation, particularly the bit where you authorise the Patreon Discord bot to join Patreon members to the Discord server. (The "permanent link" in the *post body* -- not the header -- worked for me.) **ETA**: reading between the lines it seems this link has been tried several times, and not worked; which is weird as it works for most other Patreon / Discord combos I've encountered. In case this helps anyone—the first time I tried the link, I got an error, but I tried it again just after, now that the Discord app was open and logged in, and it worked.

How do you feel about moving to a totally different solution? I miss the old school methods like forum on nowadays interwebs and discourse (not discord) is in my eyes a fresh breath of air with the forum in a modern approach. I would much more engage in such environment than on any of the current social platforms nowadays. How do other people feel about that? (It's the platform polyend and Farnam street use for their community)

I don't use Discord because it gives authentication problems every single time I try to use it (plus about 20 minutes to reset everything and logging again. In 2024.. ). I'd move to another platform, like Telegram or do.

It’s working for me now, edit: so I used it when first posted and it worked, clicking on it now doesn’t work like an hour later. Although I have fortunately got in to the discord the link problem seems very much to be broken again.

Yup, it gets kind frustrating when YouTube video gets to the point of mentioning the Discord access that comes with Patreon membership :D But I really do like the video content and hope this gets fixed soon. Anyways, you are right. In the end we are supposed to get what we are paying for, even though personally I'm patron mainly because I know these projects he works on are not gold mines, if talking in perspective of financial gain.

Like the other people have mentioned, the link gives me the error of "Invite Invalid - This invite may be expired or you might not have permission to join.". And that is regardless if I'm signed into Discord or in a private window. Please do what it takes to get that fixed, this is the only private Discord server I can't join and without it this Patreon feels like a ghost town...
