This is about the gas pipes that make the hum people thought was coming from los alamos, in newmexico? I was born there, it was funny as heck.. Imagine "They are doing something at those labs, I can hear it.. "

When I was a teenager I had a second floor bedroom. Like most teenagers I tried to sleep as late as I could and developed the ability to sleep through most loud sounds. One day I started to think I was going insane because in the morning it would suddenly start to feel like I had a sub bass inside my head. This only happened on the second floor, I never felt sick if I went to the ground floor. After a few days of incredible discomfort and agitation I thought about the construction on the street and how it had been loud but I could sleep still for weeks. They were close to finishing now so the steam rollers had been running the prior few days. As soon as they stopped them it would go away. I woke up with the construction work for a few days and just left the house. When they finished the project I was fine to sleep again.

I filled out the survey when you sent it out and mentioned only really having it happen when I’m at my parents house. I went back over the holidays and had it happen again, making me think of how the doc’s coming along and you’re shooting! Maybe it’s situational to the house, since I don’t really get it too noticeably otherwise. Who knows. But, looking forward to when this comes out.

Love the idea of the project. i'm part of an experienced music / art / media production collective next door to you in Atlanta. Message me if you want to chat about possible talents and tools that we might be able to contribute to your efforts.

This reminds me of an urban legend that was part of Borland's Turbo C IDE documentation back in the 90s, as part of documentation for emitting a tone from the speaker built into the PC motherboard. /* Emits a 7-Hz tone for 10 seconds. True story: 7 Hz is the resonant frequency of a chicken's skull cavity. This was determined empirically in Australia, where a new factory generating 7-Hz tones was located too close to a chicken ranch: When the factory started up, all the chickens died. Your PC may not be able to emit a 7-Hz tone. */ #include int main(void) { sound(7); delay(10000); nosound(); return 0; }

Looking forward to this, I actually had a 2 week episode of this, thought there was a diesel taxi idling outside my house 🤣 even went on Facebook asking local friends if they could hear it. Then it dawned on me that the weekend before it started I'd been building a timber pagoda and had accidentally hammered 2 planks together and remembered it hurt my ears. So I think in my case I had short term "low hum" tinnitus which I'd initially dismissed as I always have a bit of high pitched tinnitus anyway 🤷😂

Can't wait to learn more!

It's always tempting to make the easy bass guitar player jokes (I will turn down the amp, sorry), but this is actually a really fascinating phenomenon and I'm really looking forward to seeing where your work takes you.
