Benn Jordan - Six Air Machines (10 minute song)
Added 2020-12-29 00:28:10 +0000 UTCThis is the music probably most prominently featured in my Patreon video.
It made it in 2018 using a breath controller manually creating rhythm with 6 different wind instruments reading from a short 6-voice composition stretched out x10 to create a slowly evolving ambient melody.
If you're into this type of music, then the first stop is Steve Reich, of course. :)

I wonder if you put a trap beat on it if they would tolerate it then. Maybe I'll sample it and see if I could make a hip hop or trance version lol. I've got plenty of music that could offend the sensabilities of those who don't get modern music... from Turangalila to Pierrot Lunaire to music from my college professors, especially musique concrete, there's so much that was written in the last 100 years that people do not get. But I do think that minimalist music grinds people in a specific way, from Piano Phase to Koyaanisqatsi, I think I even got yelled at over John Adams' Road Movies once when I was working at music store. Why people can listen to a repeated guitar riff or arpeggiator but can't understand a music trend that's been around fifty years is beyond me though.
2020-12-31 20:22:53 +0000 UTCIt's a thing. MF18M was my theme when doing heavy bag rounds and stuff when I was boxing, and a lot of my teammates would beg me to turn it off. lol

2020-12-31 20:04:58 +0000 UTCmy wife can't tolerate any music that doesn't have a typical beat. She likes a wide range of pop music but anytime I try to play classical or modern or minimalist she starts screaming for me to turn it off. meh, just have to listen in a different room
2020-12-31 19:51:28 +0000 UTCso barring my rude comment earlier, I really like this piece and the way it worked as background music in the YT video. But with Steve Reich on my mind I kept wanting there to be a vibraphone coming in to announce the movement to a new section, which I'm sure Reich lifted from the role of the Balinese Ugal in Gong Kebyar. It also kind of reminds me of an Improvisation game I used to do with a sextet where we would slowly build a loop with each player filling in a gap and then it would evolve over time.
2020-12-31 19:48:04 +0000 UTC...there are people who hate Music for 18 Musicians?!?!? HOW
