"...because God isn't allowed in schools"

I was picking up my 6-year-old son from school (we live in Florida) when I heard about the Florida school shooting, so it shook me. A common statement I've been seeing is that this didn't used to happen because God was allowed in schools, but now He's not. There's a few things I have to say about that:
1. Far less religious countries don't have these mass shootings.
2. There's a US National Church Shooting Database, showing that church shootings carried out by religious people are far more common than you'd think.
3. It's not even true that "God isn't allowed". Children are allowed to pray in school. Also, the Abrahamic God is supposed to be omnipresent, so if He's real, the bullets had to literally pass through Him on their way to taking the lives of children.
I was thinking of doing an animation about this, but I didn't want to "exploit" a tragedy. I'd like to do a bit about God being omnipresent, and the bullets literally passing through him, but is that too insensitive? Is there a way to do it that would generate more thought than anger?
