I like to think that we can trust Neal to have no issue setting appropriate pacing, and there isn't really a rush to get to high-level and get the early game over with, right? That said, feeling stuck at 2999/3000xp feels bad/arbitrary, so maybe requiring more xp for the early levels (or nerfing the xp calculator) avoids that. It kind of reminds me of slow healing, and how immersive/rewarding it is vs just instant full-health every 8hrs of rest. Passing time creates opportunities, as the world responds. It may feel weird to be stuck at 99% to a level, but it's also weird for someone to rise to lv10 after an in-game month of activity. It may sound trite but.. it's more about the journey than the destination. :)
