2024-09-03 00:42:39 +0000 UTCYou definitely got more of the jokes in this one but it is *so* specific in its British pop culture references, ones that were also mainly relevant at the time (1999), and combined with a very coarse, very British onslaught of sexual innuendo, this is a tough watch for a non-Brit. You're doing exceptionally well, Josh! π Simon Shepherd (the actor in the photo and presenter of the award show in the dream Tom had) is from Peak Practice (romantic, medical drama from the 90s set in England's Peak District). Tom basically idolises him both professionally and sexually. π Coincidentally, Margery Mason, the actress who played Aunt Audrey in the most recent episode of Jonathan Creek you reacted to (The Eyes of Tiresias), having those "prophetic" dreams, was also in Peak Practice for most of its run playing a main character (about 10 years). How strange to have so many references and connections to such a random show twice in the same week. π The only other time I recall it being mentioned was by Keith in The Office. KEITH: I stayed in and watched that Peak Practice. TIM: Really? KEITH: Bloody repeat. TIM: Yeah? KEITH: Boring isn't it? Staying in and watching Peak Practice with your life? TIM: Mmmm. KEITH: Not for me. I like it. TIM: Yeah. I stayed in and had a biiiiig w*nk... KEITH: *bites into Scotch egg* (Something like that. π) Next week's episode is possibly my favourite of series 1. I do think you'll find it the funniest so far! π

2024-09-01 01:26:54 +0000 UTCI thought this was funnier than the opening episode, slick dialogue, funny jokes. Beryl, the in-house retired prostitute delivers some wonderfully amusing lines. Linda's green catsuit is to be seen to be believed. She looks rather incredible. Dreyfus's tough man acting is amazing. I enjoyed your reaction alot Josh. π
