I guess so. Angry boys was a much better Chris Lilley show. Derry girls was good though

2024-08-11 23:18:00 +0000 UTCDid Derry Girls and Summer Heights High do that bad that they'll never be considered again?

2024-08-11 18:58:51 +0000 UTCYeah I must agree. American comedy rules. Did we forget about norm? Norm is the fucking king and he's American/Canadian same thing

2024-08-09 12:27:50 +0000 UTC@Popadomzz - I hear good things about Eastbound and Down, and Always Sunny, I'd be up for either of those. I liked the Righteous Gemstones too. Danny McBride is a funny, funny mf.

2024-08-06 22:56:18 +0000 UTCI'd add Always Sunny + Eastbound & down to the list. I originally joined the channel watching Josh's reaction to Idiot abroad as I got enjoyment out of Josh laughing at Karl. I don't mind what country shows are from I would just like to see comedies Josh would enjoy/ laugh at.

2024-08-06 22:29:14 +0000 UTCI don't dislike US comedy shows. It's generally agreed that Bilko is the best written sitcom of all time and I would have to agree. Perhaps we should just all watch that then wrap it up and get on with our lives. My personal favourite US series is Soap from the late 70's. Its funny as fuck and totally surreal. Frasier is great and imports alot of Brian Rix style farce and uses it excellently. As that and big bang must be on every western country 4 or 5 times a day I don't see what's to be gained by having it on here also. What makes this site good at the moment is that it potentially introduces the opportunity for series that people may have missed for one reason or another a chance to see what other people like and recommend. So I would be totally against anything that's too wildly available elsewhere. No point. A byproduct of this system is people like to put shows forward for no other reason than they want something on they have recommended. Again I don't see the point. America couldn't broadcast married couples sleeping in the same bed until the late 70's. So the wise crack formula grew from the 50's until then. I have wondered if it was sale to the US that had Basil & Sybil sleeping in single beds. While Britain went for sex based comedy content America was constrained. I'm not convinced you'll get far adding US content but if you do try to keep away from things that are on TV every 5 mins anyway. No point. Be creative.

2024-08-06 17:32:01 +0000 UTCThat's not at all fair to American comedy. American comedy has its rubbish like every country, but at its best it's also boundary breaking and original and funny and incisive. When you're criticing US comedy for being fomulaic and not taking risks you can't be talking about Curb, or Arrested Development, or Nathan Fielder's stuff, or Atlanta, or Bob's Burgers, Conan O'Brien, etc. If you don't have interest in the best US comedy that's fine, but some of these shows should at least be put up for a vote so we can see if people really don't want anything non-UK at all, or if it's just a few people who are dominating the narrative on this. And that actually, so long as it remains mostly UK-based, people don't mind having the best US/Australian/etc. comedy up for vote now and then. On a personal note; try watching some US comedy. It's not all 2 Broke Girls.
Saul
2024-08-06 12:29:33 +0000 UTCPeople are still paying though, job or not. If the majority of comments are saying the same thing and felt they were heard, maybe there wouldn't be 'hundreds of other comments'.

2024-08-06 12:26:39 +0000 UTCI understand where you are coming from with your requests but I don't really agree. Generally I don't have much interest in watching an American watching a show made in America for American s aimed at Americans. There is no comparisons between the differences each country has. British comedy takes different forms and roads travelled. Not everyone works but at least they try. American sitcoms start with different types of characters but rapidly end up with a collection of equal wise crackers. There are still a lot more to discover in British sitcoms. For example Doctor In The House. Written mainly by Cleese & Chapman with Graeme Garden and Barry Cryer chipping in. Both masters of comedy writing in there own right. There is even a 2 parter featuring the first embryonic outing for Basil Fawlty. I do find it a little sad that shows like this have no chance of ever appearing on a platform that claims to be primarily about British comedy.
Colin Bayley
2024-08-06 12:13:48 +0000 UTCI'd like to suggest some of the premier American comedies to go along with the mostly British content. A handful, like Curb Your Enthusiasm, maybe Arrested Development. Hopefully there can be an introduction of the best US(or Australian, or New Zealand) shows, so that it isn't a dwindling list of UK only stuff that fewer and fewer people want to watch and that ends up scraping the barrel.

2024-08-05 22:45:06 +0000 UTCLooks like John's comments have been deleted. He was accusing someone/some people of cheating the system to vote Wallace and Gromit in.

2024-08-05 19:14:25 +0000 UTCI think I am hoping for Some Mothers out of this list! The first 2 series are great fun, with a lot of camp, physical humour! From what I have seen, I do think it goes down hill a bit after that, but still worth watching for the good stuff (I know it is too many episodes for this poll, but it is crazy that Some Mothers is likely to get picked before Rising Damp! XD)

2024-08-05 18:39:32 +0000 UTCHe's already done Inside No. 9. Not all of them, mind

2024-08-05 18:36:08 +0000 UTCTo be fair, Josh understood and really enjoyed The Thick of It. I think he will be able to keep up with the cat doing a woopsy on the carpet. XD Most of Some Mothers is physical comedy, after all! :) (though I do think it goes down after season 2, I think he will really like it)

2024-08-05 18:32:17 +0000 UTCHow old is old? From my perspective most of the stuff that's played on here is new. Britain has a rich and diverse comedy history of which Josh has been shown at best 10% of it. And that is mainly due to only being shown new stuff. This is partly because patrons haven't seen much and not interested in British comedy to any extent. There are quite a lot of shows I would love to get Joshs take on but not really wanting to inflict 30 or 50 episodes onto him. But since the format doesn't allow that it's never going to happen. I think funny is funny in general and Josh has liked ... ..Fools and Horses and Red Dwarf which are not spring chickens in production terms The only issues are with series that rely on knowing cultural references. There has been a big push on here for Life On Mars but that requires almost totally on knowing the cultural references that most Brits would get almost instinctively but an American would have no chance.
Colin Bayley
2024-08-05 09:02:22 +0000 UTCPatreon charges local tax so you're going to pay VAT on top. Also Josh works full time and still continues to kick out content every day, so what if he doesn't respond to every comment. Message him directly if you're that bothered rather than just adding to the hundreds of other comments in his notifications.

2024-08-05 06:48:50 +0000 UTCI know we all want an Americans response to certain things but I do kinda wish people would consider the references he's most likely to get. Maybe also work in some newer stuff with older stuff. "Upstart Crow" is a great modern way of presenting Shakespeare's life. Meanwhile the average American, and even most modern people in the UK, would struggle to understand many references in "Some Mothers Do Ave them".

2024-08-04 23:23:51 +0000 UTCI left for this reason a while back. I joined again 2 months ago-ish as there were things I'd enjoy. Also, the price says £3.50 but it's actually £4.20, not much but it shows how much the page is monitored.

2024-08-04 13:20:51 +0000 UTCI just watched the special as I wasn't aware of it! It's not included on Netflix. It was such a great send off. If Josh wants to miss out it's his loss.
Sam
2024-08-04 11:04:08 +0000 UTCFirstly, that's rubbish, paranoid and insane. Secondly, if someone is prepared to PAY to tip the balance significantly (and considering there's hundreds and hundreds of votes on these polls, it would take almost a thousand pounds in £5 payments to have a significant enough impact where a show that literally nobody else cares about wins the poll (which is what you're seriously claiming)) then fair play to them. If they want Josh to watch Wallace and Gromit for six weeks so badly that they're prepared to pay him £1000, then they deserve to win, frankly. But, like I said, they don't exist and that's an insane conspiracy theory that doesn't make any sense at all.

2024-08-04 10:38:20 +0000 UTCI voted for Wallace and Gromit too, haven’t seen them for decades and used to think they were brilliant as a kid 😎

2024-08-04 10:03:39 +0000 UTCWhy don't you take some of your own medicine then you hypocrite and get over the fact that Wallace and Gromit might win and that people in here might actually have different tastes!

2024-08-04 09:49:44 +0000 UTCLove how blunt you are haha, i’ll get over it! Just hoped that there was a chance he didn’t realise and people telling him in the comments would prompt him to push the new show that wins by a week, or just push a one off video off as an extra to say to apologies thank for everyones support. 😅 Didn’t work with People Just Doing Nothing tho, so doubt it’ll work here

John
2024-08-04 09:35:55 +0000 UTCUnless you mean me specifically, which I agree with, he is meant to be trying to please everyone paying a subscription fee to watch this content. If he’s going to keep skipping final episodes of shows that have built up to that moment, like the People Just Doing Nothing Big In Japan, and now this…it’s just disapointing to go through a whole show and never get the conclusion. I’m not threatening to unsub because i’ve loved Josh and these reactions for years, it’s my favourite reaction channel, but I do think technically it is his job to please the people paying money. Again, if you meant me specifically, then you’re right, there’s loads of people to think about.
James Brown
2024-08-04 09:03:31 +0000 UTCThen why has it won the poll, you twat? It's literally got the most votes on the Tuesday poll.

2024-08-04 09:00:20 +0000 UTCEven if he didn’t enjoy the series, I think Big in Japan he would have totally enjoyed the movie and it’s such a good conclusion. And as just a one off, it’s such a shame he never did it 🤷♂️

Sam
2024-08-04 01:26:59 +0000 UTCBecause it's classified as a movie and Josh stopped movie reactions a while ago. But Big in Japan is actually more like 3 episodes mashed into one. A perfect continuation and ending to the show. So he missed out in that respect.
