A bit surprised it's not gone over better with Josh, but someone did point out that this style of whimsy doesn't really have an American parallel, and I tried to think of something to prove them wrong and couldn't. America has surrealism, but whimsy is slightly different, it can be irritating if you don't really have cultural tradition of it. Surrealism is cold and detached but whimsy can be a bit cloying. It's quite British - things like Morris dancing and Lewis Carroll, it has a sentimental edge, or a try-hard edge. I'm not sure what it is that can be off-putting about it but I think it has something to do with John Major's quote about vicars cycling to church, cricket greens, misty fields in the morning and all that sentimentally 'Hinglish' shit. Everything irritating ends up being traceable to a Tory eventually.

It's a really niche comedy though, kinda cult following so not sure how many views it will get or how many people have even seen it.. was on Channel 4 in like, 2007.. I absolutely loved it though!
