lol, you asked what squash tastes like, they weren't drinking butternut squash lol, squash is like a juice drink also called cordial its a concentrated syrup which you add water to. Popular flavours are blackcurrent and orange.

Greg almost turned on Joe (even the audience groaned!) when he described his powerful statement as 'striking'. As in striking the match.
Greg hates puns!
Also I don't think it was possible to play Shenmue and not waste all your daily allowance on capsule toys and arcade games! Good times... :)

Good to see the outtakes back :)
Squash is a highly concentrated fruit syrup/juice which comes in a bottle and you dilute a small amount of it with water to make a drink. It doesn't taste good on its own that's why Greg had that reaction. It's nothing to do with the vegetable or fruit or whatever they are ;)

Squash in this context is also known as cordial, but it's not really a thing in the states as far as I know. It's essentially concentrated fruit juice syrup, I guess kinda like how fast food restaurants use coke syrup. Common flavours are orange, apple and blackcurrant, summer fruits, and strawberry. The most popular manufacturers of squash are Robinsons and Ribena. For regular strength squash you usually add roughly 1 part to 5 parts water, and it basically ends up like the bottle of oasis you were sent before if you remember. Having pure undiluted squash is super super sweet and tart.
As for Refreshers there are actually two types of candy with the name. One is a round tablet shaped candy that is fruity, sherbet-y and fizzy. The other is like a lemony taffy but with a fizzy sherbet centre.

Great episode, I never knew you played Shenmue. Was a very good game. I should really dig out a copy for old times sake😅
