Simple but Effective
Added 2016-09-11 08:17:24 +0000 UTCMost of the remaining bosses will be turn based fights, which means it will take me much less time to add them in the game. I just finished the first Catacombs boss. I did not test the difficulty of the fight (scary stuff) but the functionality is 100% there. Just two more bosses and I'll be finished with the Catacombs. Yay! :D
I had originally intended on making one of these fights an action sequence (button mashing?). I don't really think that's the best idea anymore.
The original idea was that you'd encounter a draculean vampire and he would keep biting and raping Sienna while taunting her, making her weaker each time. Meanwhile, you're free to move around (or crawl, as you get weaker). You'd need to look carefully to figure out where you need to go and then pull off some boards, a curtain, or such, and light would stream in and burn dracula to a crisp. Kinda like the story of the tortoise vs the hare (dracula being the overconfident hare).
That might be interesting as a button pressing event, but that could get really complicated... and I don't think it's needed. Besides, there is no way natural sunlight can pierce the depths of The Abyss. Certainly not here. Besides, the Onyx boss fight was very similar to this and it probably wouldn't be good to reuse such a similar idea.
Well anyway that's what I've been working on / what's been on my mind. I've also been considering releasing Abyss 0.65 on the forums, as there's been no reports of game stopping bugs yet (then again, I might just not be giving ya'll enough time to play the game).
Gonna get some sleep now. Hopefully I can work on the catacombs again tomorrow, but I really need to get rid of some stuff (eBay) so I may need to spend some time on that, unfortunately (hate all this clutter...).
