Did you clock Eric Idle (singer of the theme song and member of Monty Python) as the lead car mechanic?

David Renwick is the master of "the episode where nothing happens".

Kickstart 1.3

Oh yeah, I thought I recognised him!

Keith Pratt

An bit of trivia: The actor playing the obnoxious fella who hands Victor the phone, also played the night club owner in Only Fools and Horses who booked Raquel and The Great Ramondo ('Cwying').

That episode your referring to ('Hearts of Darkness') isn't until series 4. Episode 3 of series 4...

Not that I’ve seen the episode in question before (I'm actually experiencing this series for the first time here myself!) but without spoiling anything apparently next weeks episode was somewhat controversial upon its original airing in the UK and as a result has been censored/edited on most streaming services except on Britbox. Hopefully someone who is familiar with the upcoming episode can confirm if it is indeed the full uncut version available on Britbox.

A little hidden gag in this episode: presumably because he's off on holiday again (if only for a day), under his jacket Victor is wearing the same Hawaiian shirt he wore in the first episode of Series 2 when he got back from Greece to find his house had burned down. Must be his lucky outfit...

First, Josh, I love that t-shirt! :-D Second, I love this episode! I mean, I adore the entire series; it's my favourite UK sitcom of all time, but for such a stationary episode (in more ways than one) with no plot (very much unlike most episodes), it's so consistently well written and funny. The car mechanics' song is an obvious highlight and just inspired - such a David Renwick joke! :-D Also, the moments you don't expect such as Mrs Warboys suddenly hopping back into the car over 10 minutes into the episode. What if the traffic jam had dissipated?! She's have been stranded surely?! Haha! But I love that we're kept in the dark that she's even with them on their car journey! Doreen Mantle who plays Jean is such a brilliant comic actress; such fantastic timing. She's still alive too, at 95 years old. "I feel like my car's being used as a bloody contraceptive!" is definitely my favourite line of the episode - again, such a Renwick line, alongside the bits of anecdotal dialogue given to Margaret especially; it's brilliant because on the page they're clear gags, but the way the lines are delivered, it's all so believable, and just so intrinsic to the characters. The show genuinely gets better and better with each episode. I can't wait 'til series 4 as it's genuinely the cream of the crop!

To be fair they do hold a note quite well for car mechanics lol
