I knew I recognized that song Tay loves the Smiths and she listens to them alot. Yea I have heard he isn't so great 😬 That is interesting I'm not sure why either.

After Work Reactions

So sad this show is coming to an end, its just such a lovely feelgood show. It seems like you've really fallen in love with it too, I'm so glad you've enjoyed it after people were saying you weren't going to!

Michael Harrop

I thought so, Tay loves the Smiths. I knew I had heard it before.

I thought so, Tay loves them.

Lmao Josh's face when the thing fell behind him XD

Too much of the subtle stuff flies over MY head, and I can see Wales from my upstairs window.

Tony Smyth

Good that you've noticed Gav saying a few "Welsh" things. He's living there now, so starts adopting a few Welsh terms like "Neil, the baby" and "I'll be there now, in a minute" and calling a cuddle a "cwtch" (pronounced "cooch" with a soft oo, as in "cook".

Steve Small

Here's my regular suggestion that you make an executive decision and watch Spaced after this has finished.

Chris

Hi josh, now I know how your system works, once you’ve finished this could you add ‘Brassic’ to the Monday show poll please, only 20 episodes 👍

Joe S

When that stuff fell of the shelf it freaked me out a bit. I think your man-cave might be haunted Josh.* *I'm not implying you have a possessed vagina with that phrase btw

The song is There Is A Light That Never Goes Out by The Smiths, a famously miserable(although often in a tongue in cheek way) band from Manchester. Smithy and Gavin are doing impressions of the lead singer Morrissey who has a famously honking, nasal singing style, a bit like Groucho Marx with sinusitis. It's off their best album, The Queen Is Dead, and it's an utterly gorgeous song on an LP that's packed with them. Unfortunately Morrissey has decided to turn his back on singing and instead become a professional prick, who now supports some very dodgy anti-immigrant people. He's become the kind of person he would've mocked in his gilded youth. Bit like Johnny Rotten. Happens to a lot of rock stars. There was a funny SNL sketch by Fred Armitage that parodied the tendency of British punk rockers to develop fascinations with horrible conservative arseholes once they'd become successful. Also, for some reason I've never understood Morrissey is massively popular in the Latino community.

Loved every second of this reaction! I’m not sure if i have ever taken much notice of this before, but it’s hilarious that the book Doris is reading is the Katie Price, aka Jordan, autobiography (she’s an ex glamour model and much more after - info mostly for the benefit of Josh as explanation).

CatsandCrafts

She died in February 2011, this episode aired Christmas Day 2009.

Manly Stump

God bless her, sadly one of the last performances of Margaret John. RIP to Doris! The song is 'there is a light that never goes out' by 'The Smiths' Morrisay has a very distinctive singing voice which is the joke here We will see them tribute her death later in the show, she died after this was filmed but before it was aired.

Michael Harrop

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but Stacey has used the word '‘cwtch' (pronounced 'cutch') a few times in this series. It's a very traditional Welsh word for a loving hug or cuddle, which is still used frequently by the Welsh to this day.

Jay

The song Doris is singing is There Is A Light That Never Goes Out by The Smiths….they were known for having miserable and depressing songs.

Ben Marshall

Glenda is the name of the woman that owned Gwen's house in real life during filming. She lived alone and lived quite a lonely life, but the popularity of the show turned her life around. Fans of the show would flock to the street and she would let anyone come in and have a look around the house and chat to them about the filming process. As it was the final series they wrote her in as a nosey neighbour as a tribute.
