The guy who was the guest on the cooking show was tv presneter who had a tv game show in the 80's called blockbusters where contestants had to pick a letter letters of a borad and answer questions, and every though is was funny when they said can I have a P please Bob, Then people in the street would when they saw saw him would say can can I have a P please Bob must of got on his tits

There was actually a pub called the Pear Tree on the estate where this is based...it got closed down due to drug dealers selling from there. I scored some weed from there once.

I think part of the comedy is from the "I'll have a P Bob" is that the joke really isn't that funny but it for some reason just pushes the Royles into hysterics. The joke is nothing special, it was just a pissing joke using a line that from Blockbusters (A show Bob Holness hosted) mixed with peas.

Yeah remember it being something like “Can I have a P please Bob?” followed by some sniggering in the audience….same thing happened for years every time a P came up. Amusing in a juvenile way but not hysterically funny.

The 'really funny' joke was that the guy on the cooking show was Bob Holness, who was the host of a gameshow called blockbusters where the contestants had to pick letters. The running joke at the time was, "I'll have a P (piss) please Bob". It was a crap joke and became kinda cliché. But the Royles never got the memo :D On the cooking show on the TV, the woman said "I'll have a PEA please Bob".
