Jesus Christ, can you people stop bringing your strange politics onto a comedy reaction channel? Cheers

I remember watching this on video for the first time and wondering why it was rated '15'. It felt like a family film. Then Steve Martin said "fuck" 18 times, ha ha!

Keith Pratt

I honestly think I prefer seeing American comedies like this on Movie Sundays, so I'm pretty happy with this month!

Ben

I saw this when I was 10 for first and only time. Now 30 yrs later understand how great an acting performance was by both the leads, especially Candy.

Super Mega Giga Chad

Haha lol he was really selling those like crazy.

Oh ok thanks bud!

I agree it was such a nice movie, I haven't seen anything like this in a while. Heartwarming and funny. I saw Cool Runnings a really long time ago but I will add it to my list still.

After Work Reactions

Other John Candy films I think you would like would be Cool Runnings, based on the true story of the Jamaican bobsleighing team. And Brewsters Millions with Richard Prior. Hope get see them on here

Danny

I love John Candy, very likeable guy. Sad he passed away so young at only 43. He had a lot of trouble with binge eating and was a big smoker and drinker combined with a history of heart trouble in the family. Seemed a troubled guy that brought a lot of smiles to people

Danny

Damn, John Candy is just an overgrown puppy in this...

Saul

Good movie. John Candy is a fave of mine...shame he's not with us still.

Hannah

This is one of my favourite films, such a heart warming movie with a great story and characters. Steve Martin and John Candy are fantastic and work so well together, the script is brilliant. I'm pleased to see you finally react to it. Have you seen Cool Runnings? Thats a good John Candy movie

Ed

Re. the Dooby taxi driver guy, it's a pretty meta coincidence that you thought he played 'the neighbour in Seinfeld', because he actually played the neighbour in Seinfeld...in Seinfeld. He played the version of Kramer that Jerry and George wrote into their failed in-show pilot. The real Kramer is forever offended and infuriated that they didn't ask him to play himself, and the pilot Kramer and real Kramer get into an argument about which is the genuine version at one point. Add onto that the fact that Kramer is based on one of Larry David's friends, a guy called Kenny Kramer, and the layers begin to pile up until I get a headache.

Saul

Re. Steve Martin, I'd like to recommend one of his funniest films, also one of the most underrated comedies I've ever seen: Bowfinger. 'There, there...there's the door'

Saul

Saw this ages ago with my dad(who loved Steve Martin). Always fun watching this kind of stuff again with another set of eyes seeing it for the first time.

Saul

I think you might be getting 2 films mixed up John Candy was in Home Alone but wasn't his uncle but he did play Macaulay Culkin's uncle in Uncle Buck.

Have you seen 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' Josh?

Michael Harrop

He was a proper hustler with those shower curtain rings! A hustler called Del... that sounds familiar!

Manly Stump

"Due Date!"

Carl-Fredrik L

i think there was a remake of this made with Robert Downey Jr and zack galifanakis ??? (but another name) They feel very similair

Carl-Fredrik L

Forgot that Kevin Bacon appears as the man racing Steve Martin to the taxi at the start! And isn't that old boy sitting next to him on the plane at about 12 minutes in one of the home alone films when Kevin's mom sells her jewellery at the airport to the old couple? The guy with the boring voice at the airport is also the same actor who says "Bueller.... Bueller... Bueller" in Ferris Buellers Day Off. Another John Hughes film.

I watch it every year around thanksgiving time, despite not being American. I recently read the script as there are scenes in the film that don't match up to what's happening on screen visually and so much of the story felt missing, as expected there was so many scenes unfilmed or edited so this made sense after reading the unedited script. John candy was a legend as was John Hughes as a writer. Excellent film.

NEXUS

It’s such a great film. A great 80s movie with lots of silly, but VERY entertaining, humour. Enjoy!

CatsandCrafts

TallPaul2000
