Wow, dude Mark's dad is crazy as hell lol. Mark does silly crap all of the time but I had such a hard time watching him screw up so much with Dobby in this one lol. Dude don't shit on her gift, invite her to stay it's Christmas for god sake, don't be ashamed of your relationship, and stand up for her when someone is insulting her. He did stand up to his dad after Dobby left so that's something, but Dobby still left humiliated and alone on Christmas, cold-blooded. She has forgiven Mark a lot maybe she will again who knows. Maybe it's time to get Kenneth out of the drawer, he can fix it lmao. This was a fantastic episode I covered most of what I wanted at the end.

2021-04-18 22:48:29 +0000 UTCMark's dad is an excellently malevolent presence...slightly unnerving how much of a Bill-Nighy-In-Shaun-Of-The-Dead impression he's doing throughout though. All the mannerisms are there, even the style of speech. Dobby is a real writer's fantasy; by this point surely she'd have told Mark where to stick it? She's almost like a romantically and sexually appealing version of Alan Partridge's Lynn. Also, after being fairly human for most of this season Mark is particularly dickish in this episode. Pretty mean to Jez, who's in one of his more childlike moods. Liked his improvised Pictionary-fuck-you to Mark's dad... ...Who really is an awful man. I know a few old husbands like that. P.S. "Think what it's doing to the mechanism Mark" might be one of the most Peep Show lines this season so far.

2021-04-18 21:07:29 +0000 UTCLol. I do love this episode, particularly Mark losing his shit about the Turkey. The whole episode just seems very British to me. Christmases get awkward and stressful when times moves forward, expectation vs reality and that kind of stuff.

Even in the very first episode, right before Mark gets bullied by the schoolkids, he thinks to himself "you can have a good relationship with someone who scares you, look at me and dad."
