Watched this again. You probably already know but I have not seen any posts here yet about him. Doc Brown is pretty good as stand alone stand up in real life. A couple of links... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrK_HVGOnUo

I will check that out thanks for the link bud!

This is another clip of Ricky being interviewed about his pop band, quite funny https://youtu.be/PxnDlTkR5w0

Art is obviously subjective so I respect others opinion but I thought it was great. It was an interracial buddy movie. The relationship between David and the rapper guy ( forget his character name oops ). Yeah the band were pricks but it helped highlight the story’s point of being yourself and not caring too much what other people think. The scene about women squirting, the waitress scene and the scene when he is drunk going to the room are all worth the price of admission alone.

Super Mega Giga Chad

LOL I did enjoy it and yes it was very cringe.

After Work Reactions

LOL

After Work Reactions

I agree David's friends where not the greatest. I did enjoy the film but I do agree about Stephan.

After Work Reactions

Oh ok thanks for the info bud!

After Work Reactions

LOL I am sure!

After Work Reactions

LOL yes the cringe was intense!

After Work Reactions

Absolutely love this short movie. Some people make it bad because they try and compare it to the office. Enjoy it for what it is. Absolute cringe and classic David Brent making a tit of himself. Great film.

Teddy Alison

Shame there's no interviews with him from back then.

Keith Pratt

Some good points. Its has funny moments but they just don't feel as earned as in the show. This movie just seems like a bit of a cash grab, getting some money from Netflix when there really wasn't a worthy idea for a movie or a script that was good enough.

Mike Tocci

I don't know if you're aware or not Josh, but Ricky Gervais did try to become a music star in the early 80's in a band called Seona Dancing. (you can easily tell he was influenced by David Bowie) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kuy1Z4wqQ4w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABjYSxyUD98

(Just) Steve

I always took the laugh-wheeze as his coping mechanism after he had the nervous breakdown.

(Just) Steve

Eh its nowhere near as bad as some people make out. It's just weird in that it breaks a lot of the 'rules' set up in the office, the British politeness that people in the office didn't seem to vocally acknowledge the awkwardness of brents behaviour. All the talking heads saying exactly what the audience is thinking just seems odd in contrast. Also feels more 'acted' than the office. The other thing that bugs me is while I'm glad it had an upbeat ending, it kinda comes from nowhere, the band coming around and saying positive things about Brent, as well as the receptionist at the office. Didn't seem like there was any plot point or justification or prior hints for Brent suddenly getting accepted so felt a little tacked on because the script demanded it. On the whole tho lots of good moments but I judge it harsher because the office was so perfect and Ricky and Steve always seemed so adamant that it was two series and a special, that's it. Perhaps it should have been and somehow i imagine Steve not been bowled over by this

It wasn't as bad as I was led to believe, but I can see why people wouldn't have liked it. That character was Brent with a big spoonful of Ray from When The Whistle Blows and Derek. Where did that irritating laugh-wheeze thing come from? It happened maybe twice in The Office and here it was twice per line of dialogue.

Z is for Zed

I agree, it probably would have been funnier with Stephen on board, Not to say it wasn’t a good solo effort, but I think they are better as a writing double act. Ricky seems good at writing cringe and the melancholic emotional stuff (This film and After Life), I guess Stephen must add more light hearted elements. David did seem to find himself surrounded by a lot of heartless tw@ts, both at work and in the band. As much as he brings most of it on himself, I can’t help feeling he would need to have been extremely unlucky to find himself around this bunch. Good that he at least had a small circle of friends.

Gary Tamblyn

Brent was taking Paxo? Well that explains the weight gain!

David Lyons

Really couldn't stand all the band members they was all arse holes. Milked Brent of all his money, give him the cold shoulder, made him pay them to hang with him with them when he was down. Then at the end have the gall to say it was fun with him. F*CK THEM!

Danny

The ending song BTW is a decent one with Chris Martin from Coldplay, a nod to one of David's last comments

Kevin Liversage

I think it is just a slow upload for the stream version EDIT: It's up!

Danny

Yeh but that guy has gone super woke, all those comedians became crazy, it's like they want to kill 50 percent of the population that don't agree with them.

Just allow underage kids in and the place will be packed lol. When I was a kid all the clubs were full of 14 year olds. Crazy how when the Id law came in how dead they became...

I’m a big fan of Ricky Gervais and the office but just like the recent Borat release, this movie was just way off the mark. I’m so glad they ended the tv show while it was on a high.

Lee

Stephen had nothing to do with this, it's all Ricky. He has a style but it worked better when he has a series to build characters. This felt rushed with random nobodies. Ricky is fine on his own writing as he showed with Derek and AfterLife, he just needs time

Danny

Google drive link not working?

Liam

So much cringe but it's nice seeing David Brent again 😂

Liam

The writing talent of Stephen Merchant really shines through in this movie! Maybe I'm being a bit harsh, but honestly I think this is a very poor effort from Gervais, especially considering how good The Office is. I don't necessarily think Steve is a better writer, but it's clear Ricky needs a writing partner, just someone to say "yes this works" or "no this doesn't work". I think what bothers me most is that it could have been really good, but there's just so much wrong with it. Anyway, I won't go on, don't want to be negative, if you enjoyed it Josh, and it didn't take away from your experience of watching The Office, then no harm. Not going to watch this myself but I will watch the end to hear your thoughts.

Ben
