Spoiler Free: This was a good start to a series. Like most shows, I know the comedy will grow as I grow with the characters. I look forward to the episode that has me bent over laughing.

What is your favorite episode ???

Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!

As always I would love to read your comments below.

I agree he does bring many different elements into his work. He is good at creating drama and comedy and blending it together to make a compelling story =]

Ricky Gervais pieces are often a mixture of drama and comedy. Sometimes they are ridiculous and silly, other times more subtle. I think of them as drama more and enjoy the character development. It does get laugh out loud when we see Steven Merchant playing his agent.

I'll be watching Extras for the first time along with you :) I've only ever seen clips but I always meant to watch it properly so now I am lol, cheers Josh ✌

also the outtakes to both serious are hilarious.

the closest to Ricky Gervais doing any serious acting where he isn't a version of himself is when he had a role on Alias with Jennifer Garner, which was a serious role and he said it made him cringe. Everything else outside his comfort zone is usually for comedies like Night in the Museum Trilogy or Stardust or anything he's written himself which he prefers.

if you want another ricky/carl clip to watch on youtube, 'when ricky and richard called carl' is a good one

Chris F

It gets really funny, and really moving. If you don't tear up at the Christmas special, it'll be a cultural reference ruining the moment, or you have no soul!

Louis Hessey-Antell

When Stephen Merchant's character shows up the show gets exponentially funnier

Zion Marshall

Agreed, I prefer Extras over the Office

Lionhunter

It would be wise to check out the British names you don't recognise BEFORE you watch the episode they appear in. Everyone plays an extreme caricature of themselves. If I had to pick a favourite it would be Daniel Radcliffe. To paraphrase Monty Python,. he's not Harry Potter, he's a very naughty boy.

Tony Smyth

This is an amazing show, The Office gets all the recognition but I've always preferred Extras. Not only does it get funnier and funnier the more you get to know the characters and their flaws. But it starts to delve into some real emotion too. I always shed tears with this series.

Michael Harrop

Don't expect Extras to be the laughing out loud kinda show. It has its laugh out moments, but it's much more of a story driven show with some awkward and cringe moments that are masterfully done. It gets much more story driven to the end of the series and the christmas special, and became a mix of a feel good show and a slow burner comedy with some really funny moments. As you probably noticed by now, with some exceptions (like The IT Crowd), most British comedies aren't in the game of most jokes let second, a la Two and A Half Man, Friends or The Big Bang Theory, nothing against those shows, some are classics that I really enjoy, just different strokes and I think we can appreciate both styles. But again, Extras it's a subtle comedy (most of the time, sometimes things go crazy) much more focused on character development and unusual situations that isn't really worried with the ratio of jokes per second. I think if you go with that mindset you'll have a much more enjoyable experience. Anyway, loved to rewatch with you.

extras is the opposite to the office. In the office Ricky plays the awkward man who nobody wants to be around. In extras everyone else around him are the awkward ones.

Luke Barron

They changed up the order in America for some reason. Probably because they wouldn't hook many overseas viewers with no idea who Ross Kemp is!

Sam P

It’s been a while since I watched Extra’s but I was sure the first episode was the Ross Kemp one ? Always though Ben Stiller was second one for some reason.

The Kate winslet one is the best imo

Luke Porcher

I don't think I have a fav episode. I just love the dynamic between Andy and his Agent. The scenes in his office are some of the funniest bits of comedy I've ever seen. It's too perfect. The Harry Potter one might be my favorite I guess.

Lionhunter

I think you’ll really enjoy the Patrick Stewart episode. David Bowie and Les Dennis, in my eyes, have the best features in the show. Ross Kemp is great too
