Backstory: Abi was born to poor farmers who had too many children, and who couldn’t afford a dowry for a daughter. Unable to support her either short-term or long-term, they opted instead to give an ‘offering’ to the deities (to spare their daughter, and out of hope for a blessing from the goddesses). They gave infant Abi to the local temple where she, along with other orphans surrendered to the temple, was reared to serve the goddesses. She rose to the rank of low-level priestess, but was unable to ascend to higher ranks. Part of her duties entailed tending to the balance of creation; upon noticing a rise in demonic activity, she departed the temple to investigate the matter.
