Eren's father stole the power and gave it to him however he cannot be accessed because Eren doesn't have royal Blood, but people with royal Blood can't use the power either because the first king has a spell on them which makes them forget their own goals and side with him a and he's beliefs keeping humanity enslaved to the Titans. Other clarifications: Road reise is really selfish because he could become a Titan himself but he doesn't want to because he knows that he will be controlled by the first king so he forces his family to do it, also he's not brainwashed right now he would be brainwashed if he had the power of the founder like Frida and his brother. He is twice as big as the colossal titan because instead of ejecting the serum he licked it which caused an anomaly Kenny cut Eren across the forehead so he could transform and fight with historia because he was tired of him manipulating historia. Eren could not use the hardening until now but now he can because he drank the "armor" vial that gave him this ability so he didn't have it before (the vile was in the bag of Rod Reise that had the keys and it fell on the floor when historia was knocked back) Also the founder is not a person but a power that can be inherited and it has been passed down generation to generation for 100 years.
