I thoroughly enjoyed this commentary. As a non-musician who grew up with a musician, I always enjoy musicians speaking in their language.

It isn’t about creating for others to consume but rather when the act of creating is no longer possible. Example: When my dad could no longer play his instruments he wrote a book and arranged music. When he could no longer do even that he stopped enjoying life.
