Scythes are pretty cool. I had forgotten I already created a scythe with the "exotic" tag and nearly skinned this weapon as a glaive. I played around with the scythe shape before resting on this one - turns out there's a lot of ways to make them unique!
---
This scythe bears resemblance to the popular belief in the Grim Reaper, though its original fiendish wielders adhere to no such romantic fantasy. If you see this scythe, you must run — such shadow fiends will not hesitate to strip flesh from bone and devour the weak.

Obsidian Cull
Weapon (scythe), exotic, uncommon (requires attunement)
Exotic. You are only proficient with this weapon if you have the appropriate background or training (at GM's discretion).
Scythe. The scythe is a martial melee weapon with the Heavy, Two-handed, and Reach properties. Because of its shape and length, it deals 1d8 bludgeoning damage to creatures that are within 5 feet of you, or 1d10 slashing damage on a hit to creatures that are more than 5 feet away from you.
Culling Blade. This weapon has 3 charges and regains 1d3 expended charges daily at dusk. You can use an action to expend a charge, swinging this scythe with two hands and emitting a 20-foot cone of ravenous shadow that culls the weak. Creatures in the cone are affected in ascending order of their current hit points (ignoring unconscious creatures). Starting with the creature that has the lowest current hit points, a creature must succeed on a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or take 3d10 necrotic damage. If the creature succeeds on the save, the creature with the next lowest current hit points makes that saving throw. Once a creature takes this damage, the effect ends; all remaining creatures are unaffected. You can then teleport to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the creature that took this damage.
