Its gray-green and ribbed shell is especially durable and protects its soft fleshy interior from attack. The wavetrap spends most of its time on the ocean floor swallowing small creatures and plankton swimming across its open shell. Hunters dive deep to find clams for their delicious meat and the rare giant pearl.
