Hey guys,
I continue to be busy with commission work, unfortunately lots of deadlines were squeezed into a short period of time. I took a couple slow weeks during summer and traveled a lot. Then I panicked a bit, thinking I wouldn't make enough money this year, and accepted too many offers at once. That was bad management by me, and now life it being stressful, but it happens.
Here's one learning, apart from getting your schedule in order: think twice before taking lower paid jobs! They often take as much time as well paid ones, so they clog up your schedule, but not your bank account. I know sometimes you don't have a choice but to take a low budget gig. But consider this: one 3,000 EUR illustration pays the same as three 1,000 EUR illustrations. Invest the time you save by only doing 1/3 of the work into networking, personal projects, cold calls that will lead to another well paid job, and you may end up having even some spare time to play games.
Anyway, I've just finished outlining three pieces, it was quite the line drawing marathon 😅. I'd like to share the WIPs with you, hopefully you'll enjoy them!

The piece in the header is for Lausanne, Switzerland based convention Japan Impact's 2025 key visual. I wanted to go with the concept above first, but the client decided to revisit the scene and the one above, it is! (you may even see me in Lausanne in February, if I can make it)

Student Textbook provider Chegg is going to release something really cool soon, and asked me to create an animation loop with a girl learning in her dorm. The scene will feature 4 times of day, therefore quite a bit of planning involved. I will definitely break up the process on this for you later on.

The last one is a visual for Sea Reforestation startup SeaTrees. Unfortunately, this one won't see the light of day (or any colors at all), because the client decided to take a step back and try out another concept. So..more work for me, hooray ☠️😂
Let me know which one is your favorite! Thanks for reading and supporting & much love!
Cheers
Stefan
