Questions for Patron-Only Stream
Added 2024-10-26 20:57:17 +0000 UTCI'll be doing a patron-only live stream this upcoming week (date & time TBD). Even if you can't make it live, I still want to give all our patrons a chance to ask a question for the Q&A. Post your question below (one each please!) and I'll make sure to answer it on the stream. That way even if you can't make it to the live you can watch after.

2024-11-02 15:28:53 +0000 UTCHi Chris, I love your work and have been watching since Mr. Terry's first invasion of one of your early streams, do you see yourself diving into histories of Christian Missionary service in the Pacific or Central America?

2024-11-02 07:43:10 +0000 UTCHi Chris! Been watching you for years now and love your work! I am a direct descendant of Sam Houston, and was curious how much you know about him and the Texas revolution! Love your channel from San Antonio TX!

2024-11-02 02:09:02 +0000 UTCWhat WW2 area generals/tacticians do you think would have done well in wars like the American Revolution or American Civil War? Not using modern equipment just with their knowledge of logistics and tactics

2024-11-01 19:07:44 +0000 UTCHi Chris, long-time viewer here! As a fellow monarchist and member of the Anglosphere (from Down Under), I had a question: If the U.S. were a constitutional monarchy, what title do you think the heir apparent might hold? For example, in the UK, it’s the Prince of Wales, and in Spain, the Prince of Asturias

2024-11-01 16:40:45 +0000 UTCWhen and where are you thinking of doing your next U.S. group tour in 2025? I really enjoyed the Vicksburg trip. I'm visiting Chattanooga/Chickamauga soon. My hope is for Shiloh🤞.

2024-10-31 00:09:52 +0000 UTCI have been rewatching Downton Abbey and I wondered what you thought about them pretty much just glossing over WWI. They did a couple of episodes at the Somme but not much. Most of it concentrated on the house as a convalescent home. I also wondered what you thought about combining historic characters into one like they did Mary and Margaret Tudor on The Tudors.

2024-10-30 22:09:03 +0000 UTCHi Chris! I'm very much looking forward to your visit here, and I hope you’ll leave with some great memories of Prague—there’s so much to see! Are you planning to watch any videos on historical events or interesting topics for each of the countries you’re visiting? Though it’s not directly tied to Prague, based on your love for WWI and related topics, I’d recommend a video about the Czechoslovak Legion in Russia after the October Revolution and during the Civil War (also known as the Revolt of the Czechoslovak Legion). The Kings and Generals channel has two excellent videos on that topic, and there’s also a fantastic strategy game on Steam called Last Train Home that you might enjoy.

2024-10-30 13:28:45 +0000 UTCHi Chris! I am a fellow genealogy obsessive and I recently discovered that my 11th great grandfather was an Anglican minister in 1640s Virginia. Are you the first minister in your family tree?

2024-10-30 12:30:16 +0000 UTCHi Chris, I was hoping you could check out a YouTube channel called History Bites! It was a TV series in the nineties and 2000’s that asked the question, “What if television had existed since the beginning of history?” One of the episodes is called “The Uncivil War” you channel surf during the American civil war, watching a variety of shows including “The Weakest Lincoln”. Please check it out it was a very good history show. Thank You. 🇨🇦

2024-10-30 07:24:24 +0000 UTCHi Chris. With the elections coming up, I always think about the Electoral college and our representative democracy in general. Do you think it might be possible with our modern technology to transition to a direct democracy (everyone in the country votes online on bills they care about, etc.) and would the Founding Fathers want that? Or did they believe the common people were too ignorant to make big decisions on their own?

2024-10-30 01:09:18 +0000 UTCHey Chris! If you could pick just one historical book to recommend, what would it be? Most interesting/entertaining/well-written. Topic doesn't really matter. Thanks!

2024-10-29 13:37:54 +0000 UTCHey Chris! Hope things are well with you. I’m curious if you think JFK would have been re-elected in ‘64 and what the likelihood is that, free from tragedy and controversy, Bobby and Ted would have made it to the White House as well? Also, would be interested in your thoughts on Virtual JFK if you’ve seen it as well as the idea of virtual history in general. Keep up the great work!

2024-10-29 10:51:07 +0000 UTCHi Chris, as a university student and casual history learner what books would you recommend as a starting point for gaining a deeper understanding of US history? Love your content.

2024-10-29 00:19:27 +0000 UTCHello, Chris, What do you think of the Russian Revolution (October Revolution) And do you think it could have been done another way? I am an Eastern European historian. (I have studied Eastern European history for about 10 years and would like your thoughts.)

2024-10-28 23:37:16 +0000 UTCHey Chris, huge fan! Robert E Lee is considered a major weapon for the confederates in the civil war, but there seems to be a lot of new information coming out that he was not as competent as we thought. Do you think Robert E Lee was a master strategist or did he get lucky with incredible colleagues like stonewall Jackson?

2024-10-28 22:43:36 +0000 UTCHI Chris, Have you checked out SecretBases 3 part series on the reform party called REFORM? Its pretty topical and its a pretty interesting retelling of the history of the party and I think itd make for a great reaction or even just in your spare time

2024-10-28 08:58:38 +0000 UTCHi Chris, would love to see some more stuff on the war of 1812, perhaps one day a visit to southern Ontario especially Niagra falls area (not too far from you) which has many battle sites all over the place. Very rich in history, as a Canadian myself, most others find it strange how Canadians view the war of 1812, but it was like our own war of independence (In a way). It was brought up recently in your video and reminded me of it.

2024-10-28 02:45:19 +0000 UTCHey Chris. Much love from western PA! Just curious what your opinion is on the general state of history education in the US? I feel like folks like yourself and Mr Beat have a unique perspective on this topic with your backgrounds in education.

2024-10-28 02:06:58 +0000 UTCHey Chris! I know a lot of us like doing get togethers, meet ups and trips, both with you and on our own. I know Discords and things can be a pain to manage with out help but would you ever be up for coming up with a place where the community can discuss those things? Keep doing what you're doing! P.S, I'm planning on doing a family Italy in 2026, bummed I missed out on Egypt and Italy but the Reedy clan has quite the travel bug in 2025!
John Reedy
2024-10-28 01:36:19 +0000 UTCWould you be interested in reacting to a video on my channel «Well That Aged Well»? I got some great stuff coming up, and it would be an honour if you could react to one episode. (If I may I would highly recomend my videos with Richard J. Evans)
Well That Aged Well
2024-10-28 01:30:52 +0000 UTCWondering if you could weigh in some of the pros & cons of the United States shortening their election periods to be similar to the UK or other nations? If you do feel they should be shortened could you speak on what you feel an improved timeline would be for primaries, conventions, general election etc.? I feel like "election fatigue" might actually be a factor in disenfranchising people from the democratic process and maybe this keeps them from even participating altogether? This is just an opinion; I don't have evidence to back that up.

2024-10-28 00:50:46 +0000 UTCHello! I'm from switzerland and struggle to kinda get into our history. Do you have any tipps on how to start researching?

2024-10-27 15:59:07 +0000 UTCHi Chris. New to patron . Always wanted to know how the bunkers were built and how fast they went up.

2024-10-27 13:31:30 +0000 UTCChris Would you consider a tour of Ft Henry and Ft Donaldson? Especially Donaldson
Dick Garnett
2024-10-27 13:06:14 +0000 UTCHey Chris, what would you say are the 3 most underwhelming historic site that you’ve been too?
Tate Davis
2024-10-27 10:22:39 +0000 UTCI asked a similar question in a live q&a! I’m in southern Washington state and I’d love to see Chris do some local (or localish) stuff!

2024-10-27 08:32:38 +0000 UTCHey Chris, I hope your week has been going well! What are some historically accurate films (fiction or documentaries) you’d recommend that accurately depict the Middle Ages?

2024-10-27 02:14:16 +0000 UTCHey Chris, could you recommend me some books and other YouTube channels and other sources of media to learn about the Civil War or the revolution?

2024-10-26 23:08:35 +0000 UTCHi Chris, new here as a Patreon. Which book(s) would you recommend to one interested in understanding the history and political structure of the Holy Roman Empire?

2024-10-26 22:41:55 +0000 UTCHey Chris - not so much a question but a thanks for all the fantastic original content you’ve put out in the last couple of years - I know it must take x10 the effort to you reaction vids so really appreciate it. Was great to meet you in Birmingham (The Old contemptibles) would love maybe a smaller UK trip/meet up - not sure where/what. To end - my ever endorsement of the video “The Greatst Raid of all” - one of Jermemy Clarkson’s fantastic docs. Would love to see your reaction and commentary on this - (2 parter?) Thanks again and all the best to you and your family. Adam from Sheffield

2024-10-26 22:30:25 +0000 UTCChris, I’m very interested to hear your thoughts on how John Kennedy would handle this current Cold War we are in with Russia. Love you Chris! Be well!

2024-10-26 22:02:10 +0000 UTCI know the Civil War is your thing, but have you considered doing anything about the Western Expansion in the U.S. ? Oregon trail, gold rush is in California, Mormon migration, Mexican - American war, Trail of Tears, and Native Americans in general. (Next time you're in SLC check out the pioneer history of the state. If you need a list of things to do in Wyoming, I can send you a list. It's my home state and I'm disappointed you haven't visited there.)

2024-10-26 21:22:43 +0000 UTCNi hao from China Chris, if you could have dinner with any five people from any time in history (no language barriers), whom would you choose? I would choose, Confucius, Jesus Christ, Queen Boudica, William Shakespeare, and Audrey Hepburn.

2024-10-26 21:19:42 +0000 UTCWho is the most underrated US president, and who is the most overrated US president, in your opinion?

2024-10-26 21:16:01 +0000 UTCHi Chris, long time viewer, recent Patreon. I know you’re pretty public with your stance on not talking about current politics, but being this is a Patreon only live streaming curious as to whether you’ll be willing to answer this question. What do you think a Trump presidency will look like? Will it be any different than his 1st term? Anything you can foresee?
