Submissions are open for our fundraiser fan art zine! 📖

June is Pride Month and this year we'll be raising funds for Lambda Legal. It's an American civil rights organization that is the oldest and largest legal organization working for the rights of LGBTQ+ people and everyone living with HIV.

We'll be selling a limited-print fan art zine full of art from our community! All of the profits from our zine will be donated.

Want to get involved? We're seeking art from our community to include. For consideration, please submit using this form until March 28th.

We have a few rules for submissions:

In terms of technical requirements: we'll need at least 300 DPI and an ideal minimum of 6"x9" dimension size. If you want to double-check, here's a PSD template from the vendor! We will have a graphic designer layout the pages ourselves, so no need to do it yourselves.

We're looking forward to your submissions! We will send notifications to artists with selected piece(s) by early April.

Submissions are open for our fundraiser fan art zine! 📖

damn my stupid ass hasn’t been checking patreon and missed this! i would’ve loved to participate rip hope there’s another one!

taina cintra mattiazzi

My dumb butt thought it was through today but I'm excited to see the merch when the art is picked! I love everything about this and being able to combine my interests in podcasts and my interests in rights 🙌

Mikaroni

Awesome! Thank you!

C0picWhxre

ok thank you

Jordan

No, as long as you can scan it then traditional mediums are great!

Ashley Nicollette

Up to 5 :)

Ashley Nicollette

This is so exciting!! I’ve definitely got some pieces I’d love to submit! Is there a limit to how many art pieces we’re allowed to submit?

C0picWhxre

I love to draw but I draw on paper does it have to be digital?

Jordan

Completely understandable! That is totally fine and an industry pratice (using references), so you should be good.

Ashley Nicollette

I think the intention is not to have a bunch of people make new art, rather it is to submit existing art. If this is the only reason why’d you would draw fanart, I don’t think this project is for you. Just feels incredibly cynical to assume these people don’t care about a project like this. There’s FAR better ways to get a tax break. And honestly, the evaluator this is probably pretty low on the grand scheme of things. I’m choosing to believe that they are doing it because Anthony is outwardly queer and wants to celebrate his community. It’s harder to virtue signal about something that you are a part of.

Hey hey I'm a bit of a dumb ass so I have to ask. I'm a digital artist (a crap one but I still am one 🫠) And I gave up on anatomy a long time ago I don't really care about being good I just really enjoy it and even if it is shitty I still thought it would be cool to enter BUT I use free to use or paid bases because what the fuck even is the human body I hate it so much dead ass cried once over drawing a hand ANYWAY if I use base does that count as not my own?? I don't want to break any rules. It's literally just the body and the face which I'll probably alter anyway. Anyway please let me know thanks y'all 😭😭 Stay safe don't forget to drink water and have a snack ❤️❤️

NaxuPazu

Damn. My preferred art medium is audio otherwise I'd be ALL OVER THIS. Can't wait to see what the community comes up with; there are some EXTREMELY talented folk out there.

Xyta Midnyte

Sadly there is only a small amount of people that can actually contribute though. I could spent up to 25 hours drawing fan art for this charity event and i just won't get selected. So even if I do donate my time, I might just not be able to participate anyway. And even though they don't profit directly from this charity event, they still get some money through tax returns since this can be written off as a business expenses. I love that they show support to my community but I think this is not a good way to do so. This feels more like virtue signaling then anything else.

Wanted to circle back with this: In terms of technical requirements - we'll need at least 300 DPI and an ideal minimum of 6"x9" dimension size. If you want to double-check, here's a PSD template from the vendor: https://m13print.com/Templates/booklets/6x9.psd

Ashley Nicollette

Im so excited!! I'm a traditional artist I'm glad traditional art is welcomed! <3

Tiny

As a dad of 4 that at least 3 are of the LGBTQ+ community, I really wish I had the artistic capabilities they do. Regardless, this is a great thing and I can't wait to see how this turns out!

Mallavaughn

Very true! Thank you. Will add.

Ashley Nicollette

Jumping in with my two cents: community non profit, for charity zines are fairly common within fandom spaces - granted, most usually have applications, vet through artists and accept a small amount (which I think might be worth considering here if this zine is going to be printed, just to ensure the size of the zine is possible and each artist gets properly credited) - and this seems like a fun way to involve the community for a good cause!

Danika Manguiat

This is so cool. I am NOT an artist and am always amazed at the fan art. Can’t wait to see this!

BumblingRose

I think it's a great way for artists who want to contribute to the charity but might otherwise not be able to afford it themselves, to be able to participate. I know when I was younger I couldn't afford it, but I could still donate my time, and this is giving people a platform to do so. If it were something Daddies would profit from it would be a different matter.

Heather B.

I get what you're saying, and they could donate themselves, but involving us makes it feel like a community and a celebration :) Speaking for myself, it gives me a way to a) celebrate something I love with others who love it too, and b) contribute to a fundraising that's far, far bigger than anything I could do myself. Personally I couldn't be more thrilled.

rolypoly

So excited for this!! I know in the comments you say "follow your heart" re: size requirements, but if it's going to go to print then the pictures will need to be saved in high quality (300 dpi etc etc) – worth adding some info about that in case participants aren't used to working with print 🙏

rolypoly

Reminder that you have until March 28th to get that skill cracked open!

Ashley Nicollette

This feels somewhat disappointing imo. Maybe I'm getting something wrong here or I'm missing information but, asking LGBTQ artist for free art to then, take the praise for donating someone else's works earnings to a charity seems kinda exploitative. They could pay an artist for the artworks or just donate something themselves (Wich they might still do) but doing it this way seems lazy and cheap. But again maybe it's just a miscommunication or misunderstanding For more context read responses below...

EEENTOOOOON

Aww I love you all so much 🥹

Tom Pence

i’m so excited to take part!!!

anais☆

Yes! We'll share more details later this year.

Ashley Nicollette

Im assuming the zine will be sold in June? I would love to get one!

VicksVapo_Rub

As long as it's a finalized piece and you won't need to submit revisions, follow your heart!

Ashley Nicollette

Are there size/color requirements for the pieces? I’d love to submit something but want to make sure it’s within the parameters!

Mo Thomas

Also, stay safe Americans. Please get in contact IRL and online with communities, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Sending love!!

GoblinGuy

This is adorable!! So glad to see a queer/queer friendly group actually help out. Good luck to everyone that submits!

GoblinGuy

Aww this is amazing!! Huge thanks to you daddies for supporting the community and I can't wait to see everyone's art ❤️

Kevin McLaughlin

I haven't drawn in a long time, but maybe I should crack open that skill for this
