More trivia! This time about the dragons of Dragon Rider. There are two types of dragons: the tamed ones and the wild ones. Originally all dragons were wild, but through the process of selective breeding and genetic improvement the Riders ended up with a much more interesting creature for them. The Dragon Rider dragons are more slender, smaller and lighter. Have larger wings and more aerodynamic body unlike their wild counterparts that rely much more in strength and size. Most wild dragons present spikes, with a larger percentage of them having patterns like these all through the back, these features were bred out of the tamed dragons since it made using saddles much more complicated and were a potential hazard to riders. Tamed dragons can also present spikes but usually smaller and in small clumps, but also present crests, manes and other accents. The first dragons to form a link with other lifeforms were the start of the breeding selection, in which this trait was extremely important to keep. Dragons communicate with each other with a mixture of telepathy and body language but the tamed dragons can communicate with other creatures they find in the same "mind frequency". Wild and tamed dragons can breed with each other, and in fact this is how the new egg clutches are produced for the new Riders recruits. The High Warden's dragon must lure a wild dragoness (or dragon if the High Warden dragon is female) into the breeding grounds inside the HQ of the force. It is VERY important to exert a strong bond between dragon and rider during the breeding process and not to go wild with instinct, a dragon in heat can easely carry their rider into doing things they'd rather not. After the dragoness lays her eggs there is a summoning for new Dragon Rider wannabes, always more than the amount of eggs laid. A baby dragon already "speaks" inside the egg, so they can be attuned to a young rider even before they hatch. Thoser who form a bond with the eggs must now take care of their little partners. The wannabes that were not attuned are dismissed and the eggs that did not attune either are considered wild dragons and are kept with the mother until they hatch after which they are released. At any given time there is a considerable population of wild dragons that also breed amongst each other and reproduce, this is very interesting for the Riders to avoid inbreeding and to always have new blood added to the force. Sometimes when other Riders dragons find themselves in heat they disconnect from their partner for a while and leave to satisfy their urges with these wild dragons. If the connection with their Rider partner is as strong as it should be the dragon returns and everything continues normally.
