If this dude thinks any level of training will negate Tamaki's immense natural charms, he is a complete clown!

I'm glad you understood the relationship between Takeru and Reaper Lad. When I first watched it, I was like you, wanting this guy to die because of how he treated the boy. However, as the episode continued and we saw his sad backstory, I came to the same conclusion as you do, "maybe this guy is what this kid needs." I've seen many people interpret it as the poor boy having Stockholm syndrome, as he loves, in a platonic way, the guy who beats him and mentally berates him daily. I even asked my daughter, a credentialed and popular Dublin psychologist, about it. She said, "Pops thinks about it like this: when me and my siblings I didn't get a good grade or failed at something, you never once yelled at us, berated us, or called us failures, all you said was that this didn't change who you are, and that we can fail as many times as we need until we succeed. This kid did not have that; all he had was pressure upon pressure to succeed without fail at such a young age. No kid should have that at their age, as it can break them. The star-eyed dude (she doesn't know his name) pushed him to the point of breaking him with his exuberance. He wanted to be the best as he believed he had no choice. He wasn't allowed to be weak. That is, until this reaper guy came and told him he could. That he liked him being weak, even if it was to bully him. He inadvertently took away all his pressure by telling him to be and stay weak just to bully him. It's sadistic but effective to glue his mind back together." So you're right, lad, it's messed up, but it's effective. Although the second episode got me thinking about how the sister has felt since the reveal about their religion. As a devoted Christian myself, I got where the sister came from. Imagine all your life and everything you've truly believed in, in a religious way at least, being revealed to you as as simple lie for the amusement or plan of an evil thing. It would shake and even crumble your faith, it's why what the lieutenant of the 1st says rings true. I believe in God, or the sun God for them, not the institution filled with mistakes and controversies. The message of love and unity is what guides me to be the best I have been, and with 82 years of life It has not changed. We must believe in something to push us to live our best lives. Even if you don't believe in any Devine entity you still believe in living a good life and being a good person. That's what faith is imo. Sorry for the long tangent
