I've taught a couple of iterations of an "Amazons in Pop Culture course," and the Ladyland tropes going all the way back to the ancient Athenians usually involve an all-female society that goes around conquering their neighbors or otherwise being unpleasant until "real" men show up, seduce a few leading Amazons, and defeat the rest, possibly commemorating the occasion in public sculpture (like on the Parthenon). Glad to see that's not how *this* story goes. In related news, Googling anything about Amazons is much harder now thanks to Jeff Bezos. Oh, one more thing: The latest season of Picard's massive heaps of fanservice should have had middle-aged Riker in the "Angel One" outfit, if they weren't cowards.
