As expected, Joffrey and his shitbag family pushed Tyrion out of the way! Words can't describe how much I hate them!

TYRION GOT SCREWED! - Game of Thrones 2x10-1

Comments

I've been away for a few days but want to reference the song that played at the end of the credits of the previous episode, it's called "The Rains of Castamere". The Reynes of Castamere were a vassal house of the Lannisters that rebelled against them when they thought the Lannisters were weak (due to Tywin's father being a weak ruler). Tywin, who was just starting to take over leadership of his house at the time, lead his forces and completely destroyed the Reynes (their entire family) in a brutal way to make sure everyone knew the Lannisters were not to be messed with. The song "The Rains of Castamere" are sort of a mournful tribute about the fall of the Reynes house. Also, later on another vassal of the Lannisters was starting to get belligerent, so Tywin sent them a messenger who played "The Rains of Castamere" to their lord and he got the message and got back in line. It's sort of the Lannister theme song, and it becomes relevant later in the series. I don't believe it's actually explained within the TV show so I thought I should mention it here.

Pycelle throwing that coin at Tyrion was a call back to when he had him arested. Pycelle was being very petty. That scene with Brienne shows that not all of Robb's people are good. Both sides have people who do vile things aand good things.

Well, Tywin was always Hand of the King, anyway. He just temporarily gave Tyrion his powers in his stead while he was in the field. And Tyrion loses half his nose in the books here, in addition to being way less handsome to begin with compared to his actor. Rob does not marry the "wrong" woman for love in the books, but for honor. The honor of his future wife, whom he slept with in a moment of weakness (she tended to him while he was injured after a battle at which time he learned of his brothers' supposed deaths in Winterfell). Though they are definitely attracted to each other and fall in love afterwards. Marrying her was the only way he saw to preserve her honor after they had sex. He's kinda like Ned in that way, honorable to a fault. The shadowbabies are a one-time thing. Once they've done what they are commanded to, they disappear, as shadows are wont to. At this point in the books, Stannis and Mel have used them twice, but the other incident involved a storyline with one of Robert's bastards that's not in the show. The flames seemingly always show the truth to Melisandre and the other priests of the Lord of Light, but that does not mean they interpret it correctly. In this case, she accidentally caused the future in which she saw Stannis lose by killing Renly, which she did partially in order to prevent that particular future. Though, again, none of that is in the show, we just have more insights and small stories in the books. Shae was also changed drastically from the books. She's a narcissistic, opportunistic cunt in them; Tyrion just tends to fall in love with the wrong woman. She's also not featured as prominently as in the show, probably because her actress and TV version are way more interesting in comparison. More on that in the future (maybe), when it becomes relevant.
