GAME of THRONES!

Hey, Gang, I just wanted to give you guys a heads-up on the upcoming Game of Thrones vids here:

After you guys voted it in, I thought it would be better if I added it as a YouTube series, with the full versions here, as my AM schedule (when I record and post our daily vids) is extremely tight on time, so I would have to break the GoT episodes into 20-minute portions.

Unfortunately, YouTube did not agree with this idea.

I tried GoT at both channels, and it was soundly rejected! The views and watch time on the show were so bad that continuing it there would definitely hurt those channels. So, we'll have to go back to the original idea, and GoT will start - in those 20-some minute segments - as soon as we finish our catchup shows.

Sorry we couldn't do it the way I wanted. I am absolutely perplexed at the complete lack on interest in this show at our YT channels.

So I'm guessing it won't be coming out wit no more episodes?

It's sad to hear GoT didn't hit it off on the Youtube channel, considering not everyone can afford the extra cost of the Patreon sub. But excited for the idea of more frequent uploads on The Goosh, even at 20 minute sections. I think Sandor might while initially annoy you will grow in depth and become a favorite of yours :D

Yup, I think you're right that it's just a case of the YT gang is much more into animated stuff and comedy. That's understandable. We definitely have a much wider range of interests in our gang here at The GOOSH.

I don't think length is the issue, as I've had other shows with similar time ratios that did just fine. My edited versions are made to highlight my reaction, whereas others tend to try and put as much of the original content in their vids as they can get away with... Just a different way of approaching things.

Looks like some reactions do get viewers, although I have not seen it come up in casual conversation (online or offline) at all after it ended, but that's just a personal anecdote. I'm guessing there are fan communities that I just don't visit so that makes sense.

I don't know. It stands to reason it would have failed last time given its close proximity to season 8. But after a while, more channels on YouTube have reacted and done incredibly well with the earlier seasons. You can just search for some new reactions and there are half a dozen showing up. It's definitely an issue with the YouTube subscribers and not the Game of Thrones followers since they voted for it twice.

That's odd, considering how popular GOT still is and the reactions to them. Perhaps a lot of subscribers had seen the earlier reactions to episodes 1-2 and therefore had a lack of interest? For my part, I at least checked them out again despite having seen both 1-2 here on the goosh. It could just be that your subs on YouTube are more cartoon/anime-focused and less interested in live shows. It does suck that YouTube doesn't even give it a chance to pick up since they give up on it.

This might be just personal thing but when I look for reaction videos for a show that's 50 minutes long and I see a 12 minute reaction video, I would not click on it. It would look too short to me to be worth it. Although I generally don't watch edited reaction videos anyway so again, might not be the most representative point of view :)

The season 8 curse is real, GoT was one of the most hyped and discussed shows of all time. After Season 8 all of the discussion was on how badly it ended, and after all of that died down, just silence in general for the most part, it just vanished from public discussion, it was like people just tried to forget it existed. Other franchises like Star Wars have had disappointing additions to them but fans still theorize and discuss them all the time but Game of Thrones just disappeared, it's wild. It certainly doesn't help that House of the Dragon (which had a fantastic season 1) just finished up a somewhat disappointing season 2.

that's honestly why I'm shocked it was voted in, in the first place, we tried the series before ages ago and there was no interest, then there's the whole thing about the last 2 seasons being so bad that even the series own cast rejects them, I don't know why it suddenly won a poll honestly.

Actually, the problem is just a general lack of interest from existing subscribers. At both channels, when GoT posts, the number of people who check out the vid is incredibly low, then even more surprisingly, those who do watch don't tend to watch a lot of it. When that happens, the YT algorithm washes its hands of the video and drops it.

Spaz Boys Comedy

That's unfortunate. Pretty much every channel I see reacting to Game of Thrones blind gets at least a few thousand views per episode. I'm surprised House of the Dragon didn't do as well as I thought it would, either. The algorithm gods must hate you because I can't see a significant drop from earlier episodes that would indicate viewer retention is the problem. The only explanation I can see is that the Grandpacurtis channel is also being affected with certain uploads. Still hoping to enjoy the GOT journey with you here if that's still the plan!
