I think they highlight the care the girls have for Kazuma and what he has for them, they might be at each others throats a lot but the second the noble fuckheads were trying to hook Darkness up and made her uncomfortable, Kazuma immediately engaged his bullshit mode to make something up so they'd leave her be even if he'd never admit thats what it was for. Its nice to see the connection they've built up over the past seasons
