CONCERNS ABOUT DOCTOR WHO…
Added 2024-06-27 00:26:03 +0000 UTCI just wanted to touch base with you guys, as a few of you have already expressed concerns to me about the future of Dr. Who reactions, due to its very sluggish start at Grandpa Curtis…
I had hoped for more initial interest there, but I have VERY rarely seen you guys so pumped for something. So, given that, we’ll definitely keep plugging along. I won’t stop something you guys are overwhelmingly so into!
It’s entirely possible that it may pick up at YouTube, as GC channel does occasionally get some help from YouTube.
As long as you guys stay into it, we’ll go for at least the first 4 seasons, as you guys have told me that, after that, things drop off a bit.

I'm really glad to hear this. Expecially after I stopped on youtube to watch the full reaction here. I'll put it on tab to give the YT verson a full view. For The Algorithm!

2024-06-29 19:16:49 +0000 UTCI think this comment section may be in a bit of an echo chamber. Personally my favourite is series 1-4 but I know so many people who love 5-10 and series 10 is one of my favourites. I also know that there has been a lot of love for the newest series. The only one the fanbase has really decided to agree is bad is 11-13 due to the showrunner at that time not understanding the show. I would say if you stop enjoying it then it is definetly worth stopping but take some of these other comments with a pinch of salt and definetly let yourself form your own opinions. But there is definetly a super dedicated audience to this show and the entire run.

2024-06-29 16:34:06 +0000 UTCI would think it would be worth it to stick with the show until the end of the Capaldi era, which would be the end of season nine. after that you could probably stop. but ultimately, that’s your decision and I’ll respect whatever you decide.

2024-06-29 03:18:18 +0000 UTCIt's definitely worth it up to and including the 12th Doctor imo. Season 10 and beyond is where things definitely drop off. Season 5-7 I think are peak. Thank you for sticking with it old man.

2024-06-28 06:50:35 +0000 UTCI respectfully disagree honestly, the second half of Capaldi's run is when the writing really started declining for me, it's a shame because Capaldi is a great actor.

2024-06-27 17:18:24 +0000 UTCThank you Curtis, I appreciate the candor and generosity! For what it's worth, I think the views on the GC channel will end up fluctuating heavily, as Doctor Who is very much a show where people will rewatch particular episodes or seasons rather than the whole thing. The series is known for jumping between "decent" and "absolute peak fiction", and I reckon the views will reflect that.

2024-06-27 12:58:54 +0000 UTCSeason 10 wrapped things up in a nice bow without being too bad too. It was definitely weaker seasons, but not the current slop.

2024-06-27 12:10:07 +0000 UTCCorrect me if I'm wrong but didn't it have to do with the writers? I had really only seen up until Capaldi but after that life got in the way and I hadn't had a chance to get back to it, but I wasn't overly impressed. Which is a shame because I've watched seasons 1 through 8 more times than I can count and loved every second. But from what I had heard is that a lot of it had to do with the writers at the time.

2024-06-27 12:08:08 +0000 UTCI was surprised to see it perform so sluggishly, but in retrospect I do feel it probably has to do with this new season literally just ending, and it being pretty bad (Disney financed it like I said on stream, and they "Disneyfied" it making the problem worse, this current season has both the lowest viewed episode in the series 60 year history, and the lowest viewed season finale as well). Up to the end of season 4's specials makes sense, though I would suggest if you like it enough when we get to that point to watch up to the 50th anniversary special, the end of season 7, and then stop to let the series end on a happy note.

2024-06-27 01:28:13 +0000 UTCI think the first episode is always hard but I agree with you, let’s see where we stand at series 4

2024-06-27 00:59:52 +0000 UTCI’m not gonna make any commitment past season 4, though. I’ve heard a lot of unflattering things, and it looks like a series that will already struggle at YouTube.

2024-06-27 00:32:39 +0000 UTCThe first 4 seasons are definitely to some extent a separate story, same with seasons 5-10, they both had separate showrunners and both wrapped up their main story arcs and side characters, same 11-13 though that run was a lot more of a mixed bag. If you were going to watch just part of the show seasons 1-4 are definitely the seasons I would recommend.

2024-06-27 00:32:02 +0000 UTCIt's just a shame it stops at the end of Peter Capaldi's run. Past that it literally doesn't deserve to exist - I've read better fanfics. Hells, I've read better "so bad it's good" fanfics.

2024-06-27 00:30:08 +0000 UTCAny plans for Breaking Bad? We were at the most exciting part of the series, hoping we can get back to it soon.
