Crazy how FLCL became a Toonami Original Production down the line with the sequels. Full Circle.

Triforce of Shadows

And voice actor is also Steve Blum, lol.

Triforce of Shadows

The artstyle turned me off at first, but I plan to give a shot down the line.

Triforce of Shadows

Peter is a legend. Only reason he can't come back to Toonami is all the recurring Transformers work... I miss him on Toonami.

Triforce of Shadows

Toonami crew actually saved Big O. They produced and released the 2nd Season as one of their first anime Co-Productions. IGPX was another idea they brought to life. (IGPX was originally a T.I.E, but was remade as a 2 season series by Toonami Crew, as full original series, not just a co-production)

Triforce of Shadows

He was in so much of our childhoods. I was blown away when I looked it up. Gargoyle's might be my favorite though, along with all the TNG Actors as VAs it has in it . ^^

Triforce of Shadows

Respect.

Triforce of Shadows

I saw a little of this, I need to just watch some more of UC Timeline. I always want to watch in order and I end up not finishing. Which series are the top UC Shows/OVAs/Movies in your opinion?

Triforce of Shadows

Wing was first Gundam I hunted down and watched all of. I have since rewatched in several sittings in a row and it still held up. Really good show, but I do know their are other great gundams too.

Triforce of Shadows

I somehow skipped this on Toonami at the time.

Triforce of Shadows

I need to finish the OG Movies. I saw Part 1 and half of part 2. I liked how they edited the new stuff into the movies, I tried to get into the show version several times.

Triforce of Shadows

And Moltar from Brak/Space Ghost was original Host, followed by the VA of Krillin from DB/Z/GT, then in the end by Blum continuing for the longest till now. They all have their own style and all awesome in their own way.

Triforce of Shadows

I got into one piece with the 4kids dub as well, and just watched the movies subbed. I just figured at first the movies were more violent, lol. I only heard about one piece from Toonami originally. Same with Card Captors, I only knew the other version for a long while.

Triforce of Shadows

We have been able to get semi-master files of promos from these outside animation studios portfolios for some of the TIEs. ^^

Triforce of Shadows

They are testing the waters with Toonami Rewind on Fridays (first day added to a Toonami Week in a long time), as they own a huge part of the day now of CN Slot, they are seeing if worth putting on more days over their own shows. I wish they did more for Rewind, but we need to watch it so maybe they will expand with some more interesting content.

Triforce of Shadows

and NeoToonami for a little while. Loved the passion of the fan 3D animated work they did for their promos.

Triforce of Shadows

Thanks for keeping the flame, always love to see people promoting Toonami to a new audience or just people rediscovering. Really cool to hear all the takes and stories. I personally work on restorations of promos I recorded as a kid on VHS, I have always been inspired by the Toonami Block in general, it was a huge influence on me. Would love to see more and/or more Toonami show recommendations down the line for shows he hasn't seen yet. Thanks again!

Triforce of Shadows

Blu-ray remaster of it finally coming out, so good time to hope on.

Triforce of Shadows

Sad that they didn’t have the promo for FLCL. Very glad I was able to sponsor that for you once upon a time

Freddy Jimenez

I really enjoyed this!... And that's actually not a bad strategy at all. It would definitely not be the first time a sponsored series got a lot of extra push in the polls by being fresh on everyone's mind! 😊

Spaz Boys Comedy

😁😁

Spaz Boys Comedy

Funny story, when I was a very young boy, way back in elementary school, Toonami was actually banned in my house because the monsters in Yu Yu Hakusho gave me nightmares.....and now as an adult, it's in my top ten favorite anime of all time, what a redemption arc lol

Chandler LaDeau

Its been a long time since I saw it but being a shonen/mecha/racing show I remember liking it for being something different and cool. Also I think they did that thing that was popular in the early 2000's where the mechs and all the racing stuff was CG were as all the people were 2d. plus it had Optimus Prime as the narrator :)

Ogre_312

I'm glad you liked these. This was such a big part of my life from middle school onwards. I tried to pick a variety of things that were a mix of new to you and familiar...though I may have gone a little overboard with the number of Gundam series. Also I would be lying if I said that there wasn't a part of me hoping some nostalgia bait might help some older shows do well in future polls.

Ogre_312

I'm pretty sure the narrator for some of them (you said he had a cool voice) was Peter Cullen. (Optimus prime)

Philip Repp (Bebop56210)

Holy crap I never noticed it was Keith David speaking as the narrator for the Inuyasha advert! Also, Batman Beyond, Tenchi, and Gundam Wing are three shows I hope we see you react to in the near future

DevilJynx

Good description! 😁

Spaz Boys Comedy

Very cool!

Spaz Boys Comedy

That was interesting to see it called "Cardcaptors"... Such a GREAT show!

Spaz Boys Comedy

Yea, I enjoyed this a lot!... That was a random brain fart. I've been watching too many dragon related shows lately! 😂

Spaz Boys Comedy

😁😁

Spaz Boys Comedy

Wow, this is great. I thought I might suffer a nostalgia overdose when I saw Big O. Its like if Batman had a mech. I'll always remember the first time I saw One Piece on toonami. I miss those day. Now its all work, and back pain, and taxes.

Gundam Seed was the first digital Gundam. It was the 2000's Gundam and also, next to the OG Gundam timeline is the 2nd most popular Gundam timeline, even finally Getting Seed Freedom which i saw this year. It was intended as reimagining of the OG Gundam timeline, but instead of psychic humans, the cast were coordinator, human artificially enhanced from birth to have advanced cognitive skills in many fields. But the main conflict was the growing distrust between the coordinators and non-altered naturals. One either wanted to be left alone, or felt superior, the other felt coordinators were freaks and abominations due to being unnaturally enhanced. Also the main character, Kira is infamous for being a Mary sue, too perfect and op, to the point of surviving death from point blank explosions and even his own Freedom Gundam having a nuclear meltdown with him in it, He gained the nickname Jesus Yamato as a result. Seed Freedom movie is interesting as he was notably underpowered and outclassed througout it. He's also regarded as one of the bitchiest Gundam MC's. Which is saying a lot.

Notice how the OG Gundam played up the death more in than Wing. That's the thing with the OG series, it wasn't flashy or cool and was dated, but it was raw. Tomino was raw with how he killed people. Even despite the more silly moments, they felt very daily life and personal. But the OG series didn't catch on. It was coming off the tail of Wing and G Gundam. The older animation and the less gung-ho Amuro Ray didn't take to modern audiences at the time.Though now, it's a lot more common for viewers to find the OG more interesting than Wing due to the characters and more grounded interactions. Sadly, the OG and most if not all Gundam's the war stories were pulled from air after 9/11

GenesicKaiser

G Gundam was notable for being the first Gundam to not be part of the OG Gundam timeline, instead being the first Alternative Universe Gundam, mainly due to the UC Gundam timeline becoming way too long and hard to follow. Besides that, it shifted it's style to a DB martial arts tournament setup with an underlying evil Gundam plot going on. I actually liked it more than Wing, as while it completely deviated from Gundam, it felt closer in feel to the OG Gundam in some ways due to campier side that the OG had that Wing lacked. Characters had more passion and heart which I found Wing eschewed

GenesicKaiser

Casshern Sin was a remake of the 70's Casshern series.

GenesicKaiser

IGPX. Haven't seen it, but I like the idea of racing and mech battles. Liked the interesting designs too. I also found out that the main female was Irish.

GenesicKaiser

Ah Gundam 08th MS Team. Also a fan favorite among western fans. One of the most grounded Gundam's in the series due to the the setting being Vietnam Gundam. In contrast to the majority of Gundam's it's regarded as the most realistic due to little no special tech, fancy abilities or powers, just pure hardware, infantry and camping in shitty weather conditions. It was part of the OG Gundam timeline, taking place during the OG Gundam series.

GenesicKaiser

After brief fight with the rival, funny enough who shares Heero's Japanese VA, Great Mightgaine either need to get super close to destroy a meteor, or hook up the rivals also Super robot suit to it as an extra power source to destroy it from afar.

GenesicKaiser

Which I wouldn't mind on something like Mazinkaiser, the Mazinger's whole deal is being as durable as heck powerhouses. But Gundam's whole idea was a flawed pilot in an advanced machine that lost out to the greater tides of war. The Wing Zero Gundam somehow had the power to destroy an entire space colony after long fights, yet I've seen Gundam's with greater power supplies/ones with their cannons hooked up to battleships/enhanced by psychic abilities that didn't come close to Wing Zero's destructive output. I've even seen one of the Brave's Great Mightgaine, a huge super robot comprised of multiple mechs and crafts with a mech for a huge cannon that was bizzarly far more grounded

GenesicKaiser

Gundam Wing was the first Gundam to air in the West. It was a massive hit due to the badass Gundam designs and also most of the pilots being badasses. Not to mention the more more modern look. The other Gundam's to catch on in the West after were G Gundam and IBO. Personally, I'm not a big Wing fan. I prefer the OG Gunda series. Despite trying to be serious, it came off as trying to hard for me, with Wing Gundam pilot Heero being as interesting as plank of wood. That being said, I did like Duo, Gundam Deathscythes pilot, felt the most human. I do like the designs and the ost, especially the openings. Now the movie, Endless Waltz I liked more, there was more stakes in it, were as in the series, the Gundam's felt a little too invincible.

GenesicKaiser

Just so you know Steve Blum, the guy who voices Tom (the space guy) is also the voice for Spike in Cowboy Bebop. Definitely much nostalgia with this video

Brother E

oh wow, this was definitely something different, it is pretty nostalgic to see, even though British promos were pretty different lol, that was really fast edits. A few notes, Cardcaptor Sakura was titled just Cardcaptors in the first English Dub (there's 2 dubs, the later one is better), Fox didn't want a series aimed primarily at girls, so they heavily edited it removing most of the romance, and tried to make Syaoran more of a focus, and make Sakura into a tomboy, also they couldn't pronounce Sakura lol. That was your favourite version of One Piece they showed by the way, 4Kids One Piece! we really should continue our journey with them one day. Inuyasha has to win eventually... I would have thought until somehow Game of Thrones won lol.

Chrome

Yup, you called it right, I know Big O. Liked the old school Mitsuteru Yokyama feel like Tetsujin 28, Giant Robo etc were the mech has bulky, lumbering design and heavy duty weapons. Felt like a really steam punk setup. Even has an arm gatling gun which fitted the film Noir aestestic. It had two seasons, with the 2nd being funded by Toonami as it wasn't as big in Japan, but the mature, Noir setup was a hit with Western audiences. Also, it's opening was written to be a parody of Queens Flash Gordon. It Was an interesting story too. Roger was cool and Dororthy was funny. Also, the Orgasm joke was made in Big O abridged were they wrote Big O to be like Alphonse, talking and being very smart, despite the mech not talking in the series. What's funny to, in the same year, a similar idea was done with Dai-Guard, a slow moving grounded mech but with salary men, were both's signiture finisher was a piston style weapon designed to deliver a strong armor breaking blow. Dai-Guard though was more like if you took GaoGaiGar, and removed the alien tech, instead relying on feasible human tech.

Nice nice

Charlie baker

Your right but it's still going . But do you know of Toonami aftermath? It's a fan site that shows all the toonami shows , moives and has a radio station . Also a live chat. It's a real Nostalgia trip take a look . Right now they are playing dbz now and next up is gundamn . Also they are channels to it. Take a look if you love toonami. https://www.toonamiaftermath.com/

Heavenly Demon

Toonami is but its been reduced down to like a crippled 3 hour slot iirc

Charlie baker

It's still going, but do you know of toonami aftermath ?

Heavenly Demon

So here is a copy and paste of the toonami T.I.E. .. they are still making these . Really cool and unique style making the network it's self into a show. In one of the T.I.E ( it's called lockdown) on toonami you get trapped and you could go online and play a game trying to save toonami with. COPY AND PASTE "A Total Immersion Event, often shortened to simply T.I.E., is an animated adventure featuring the Toonami hosts TOM and SARA. However, the fourth T.I.E. did not feature them and instead featured a completely original story called IGPX. There were a total of four T.I.E.s during Toonami's original run on Cartoon Network, and 7 more have aired during its current run on Adult Swim. The Toonami Total Immersion Events have all been produced by Williams Street, the producers of Toonami, with animation coming from outside animation studios."

Heavenly Demon

It's fine heavenly dragon sounds like a cool name to lmao and wow this was a great reaction. Love toonami that's how I found a lot of my anime and see inuyasha is one of the OG great anime . Thanks OGRE 312 for the sponsor a lot of good nostalgic for me. Also FYI toonami has its own like moives/ show , called T.I.E for me as a kid I thought it was amazing. It had the host of the show Tom (voice by Steve blum) fighting monsters and stuff . Trying to keep the broadcast on so we could watch toonami. Very unique

Heavenly Demon

Tom was and still is a core part of my childhood haha

Charlie baker

God toonami was the best back in the day
