They try way too hard turn him into this white knight type of character, and it's especially bad since if I'm not wrong the writers were initially considering having Pam cheat on Jim with Brian! Thankfully that never went through. Again, the highlight of this season for me has gotta be the senator stuff. Seeing Kevin just tell him off like that was the best part of the episode, and I kinda do end up feeling bad for Angela and Oscar, even though they can be really up their own ass.

In an interview, Jenna Fischer confirmed the writers never intended for Jim to actually cheat with Cathy. It was just a rumor that got circulated online. But I can't be too sure with that Brian guy.
