Especially since he seems benevolent and only uses his sinister side to ironically kill less by rejecting the value of life. You can also say that if Mavis is the mother of Fairytail then Zeref is the godfather since he trained its founding members on how to use magic, which is funny given that Precht later becomes the dark wizard Hades and also dies to Zeref after his failed attempt to wipe out Tenrou and "awaken Zeref". "Perhaps I am why she died" My theory on that after he said the line was given that Ivan, Makarov's son, as well as Makarov himself acknowledge that FT's Lumen Historie is the guild's dark secret. I pondered if it was tied to the fact that Zeref had a role in the guild's conception as Mavis was a student of Zeref. If The Council(Before Tartaros murdered them all) or even the public knew Fairy Tail had ties to Zeref, even loose ones, it'd open Pandora's Box on them.
