Probably useless to point this out given you're way ahead, but Ivan wasn't the one talked about when it came to "trying to save the world", its the leader of the castle guard and the one behind the Eclipse project. All the glimpses into the future, the foreshadowing up to this point, the reveals, this arc really put up a double wall behind its true nature. We have Raven Tail with Ivan being a dicknugget, and we had Sabertooth being a little too arrogant, but now we're coming down to the meat and bone of the story
