I've been working all week on the revamp of the Wiki and its sideabr. As you may know, we're getting rid of the categories system. The plan was just to remove it, but once we did, LK felt a little less sparkly than it did before.
We decided to take another crack at it, and came up with a flexible "custom-category-esque" system we're calling "Shortcuts" that's visually identical to the category bar, but a lot more flexible and fun to use. This feature itself is done; I'm creating a database migration strategy to get everyone onboard; it will require some downtime to convert everyone's projects. More on that later.
I'm super pleased with how Shortcuts turned out and I'm excited to see what you think. If you love the current category system, you'll be able to re-create your experience with Shortcuts.
As a recap, here's what's coming in the next several days:
- Custom ordering in the wiki.
- Removal of categories
- "Shortcuts", a new feature that's visually similar to categories, but more flexible.
- Collapsible and resizable sidebar.
- New drag and drop engine for sidebar.
- UX improvements for drag/drop and wiki tree interactions.
- Story tab is being removed; will be merged into Wiki as a top-level element, "Story", with "No Access" permission, like it is now.
That being said, I'm exhausted! I'm taking a real vacation day today! I'll be back online tomorrow.
